TV enclosure ? -Solved

'03 Winnebago Adventurer. Would like to replace the front 25" analog TV. Not sure how to remove the plastic enclosure. The front portion has plastic clips/inserts/caps that appear to hold it to the rear section. Don't want to break them trying to remove them so I can separate the 2 pieces. I tried, gently, to pry them off with a knife but that didn't look like it was going to work.

If anyone has experience with this type enclosure I sure would appreciate your help.

Okay, the clips/inserts/caps are only for the rear portion of the enclosure. The front portion is held on by 2 screws inside the cabinets on each side. I'll have to remove the TV to see how the rear portion is held on but at least it's a start.

We replaced the plastic tv cabinet in our 2003 Winnebago with a wooden storage cabinet to match the rest of our cabinets. We bought a 47 inch flat screen and had it installed on the slide-out in our kitchen. I love the tv there, no more sore necks looking up. :B

Good idea but it's just the wife and I, not sure that's the ideal location for us. How did you remove the plastic TV cabinet. Maybe you weren't concerned with destroying it since you removed it completely. I don't want to destroy mine until I figure out how to mount a new TV.

We had the plastic TV cabinet removed completely.
When we bought the motorhome we had to take it back two times because the plastic cabinet kept rattling. I think the plastic cabinet was a poor design. Good Luck!

  • Maybe I should take a picture but it's pouring outside right now. Our previous motorhome, Bounder, had the wood frame on the front like you described. This is a molded, contoured enclosure. The front section wraps around the sides and underneath the TV. There is metal framework inside that holds the TV. Best I can tell the surround sound system is inside there too.

Certainly can't see what you're looking at, but most have a wood frame around the opening with about 4 wooden plugs for covering the screws and once that frame is removed, it's usually pretty straight, forward with what's holding it in there, after that.
