Wood Flooring/Shades

We are in a 2010 Fleetwood Fiesta 34B and want to replace the carpeting, which is uncleanable, with wood flooring that is easier maintenance. We welcome recommendations for types of flooring given this is a gas rig and weight is important. Also we are in the Tampa, FL to Charleston, SC area and would like to know about a reputable installer.

YET AGAIN the folding day/night shades havve come unstrung after a second repair. Suggestions welcomed for repair or replacement.
  • I just replaced three of my shades with the MCD Gold Series. They were a little cheaper than the Duo Series. Still $$$$. We love them. We will be replacing the rest of the shades including the windshield when we build up the budget again.
    Love the MCD's.

    Can't help with the carpet.
  • We replaced all of the carpet in our 35 foot motor home with laminate. We weighed a large piece of the carpet and pad and used that to figure the total weight. The laminate added about 160 pounds or so.
Unless it is now made much thinner than it used to be, regular wood would be a lot heavier and the slides might have a problem riding up over it.

We replaced all of our shades with MCD American Duo shades. The ones on the windshield are motorized and replace the sun visors and provide day and night privacy as well.

A number of people have replaced the carpet with Home Depot Allure vinyl planks with over lapping adhesive coated strips. It is not rated for RV use though because of the low upper temp rating it has.
I have read there is a new type of Allure that snaps together and it might be more suitable for an RV.

We had the regular Allure installed in a house we inherited that we thought we might rent out. I had no reason to weigh it but moving it into the house to stabilize before installation showed me that it is heavy.
