brewing beer on the move

I'm sure you can make it work but, I've never heard of anyone doing it. That doesn't mean it's not being done.
If you are definitely going to be stationary for a long enough period of time I don't see why you can't brew beer.

However, if you get the urge to move on or, CG neighbors become a problem, or there's a weather/natural disaster situation and you must go, that could be a problem.

Personally, I would brew enough at home and take it with me while traveling. If you are a full timer then my response is moot.

You will have a few people at campgrounds that see or smell something they don't understand. They may report you as a mobile meth lab. :)

And, if you're my neighbor at a CG, I'll be bugging you for a sample(s).

During prohibition, my folks made a batch of homebrew and decided to move it in their car before the fermentation process was completed. Filled up the entire back seat with foam!

I just don't think that is enough settling time....

it will still ferment... but you will have LOTS of floaties in your beer and it will be cloudy.
Not a health issue, just not desirable..

I do a 4 to 6 week secondary to get as much as possible to settle out.... really clean beer, and it matures and smooths out really nicely... and no way you should be moving during this......

I've brewed my on beer in the past and my concerns would be keeping the temperature right. Cooking the large amount of grains etc could probably be overcome outside, but the fermentation I think would be a challenge.

i would do it from kits with liquid or dried malt extract, boiling grains would be a lot of work in a camp site i think

temp control is pretty easy, i do it all the time. i just keep my fermenters in an ice box and add ice every day

Let's look at the question from a different angle. Why go camping if you'd rather be brewing?

We go because we like to have a change in routine. We leave our hobbies at home that would consume too much of our attention from exploring and meeting new people. If I was into home brew I would bottle enough to take with me.

Keep in mind too that some counties or states may have restrictions on this too.
Just another view on it.

I have a friend the brews beer in his MH. He does wait until he can stop long enough to get through the primary fermentation. I can attest that the beer he brews is very good.

i figure i'll have a lot of free time on a 6 months trip but good point about state rules, especially Utah

I did 5 gallons at a time from scratch and generally had 10 going for short periods. I didn't care for the kits, but everyone has their own tastes.

The only issue I see is the space? You would need to store 12 to 15 six packs in order to have beer to drink and empty bottles to fill/age and then drink. Plus room for fermenter and brewing equipment/supplies. I would use kits and then only have a few on hand.

If you full time maybe you could do it depending on your rig/trailer. I take beer with me for a couple weeks trip but usually only have one or two beers a day so no more than a 24. After two weeks I buy beer. There are now many good brewers in the country, 10 years ago brewing your own would have been more of a necessity to have good beer.
