Egg Central

Herself wants a Cuisinart Egg Central for her Mother's Day. I asked her why would she want an appliance after all these years of a "No Appliance Policy" for her gifts. Her answer: "I'm tired of jewelry and all that other stuff and I want something practical that I'll use every week."

"Who are you and what have you done with my wife?"

We eat a lot of boiled eggs in our cooking. She found this item and it's supposed to take less time and make the eggs easier to peel. I've ordered it so we'll see. I have to admit we do boil about 18 eggs a week. We eat them for quick breakfasts, in salads with bacon and as sides for stuffed eggs. She's probably right because she hates kitchen gadgets and rarely gets interested in them. When she does, we end up really using what she's picked out...
unlike my choices...
such as the combo beer bottle opener/can opener/deboning/cheese slicer/spark plug changer.

Speaking of eggs and bacon salads, here's an old standby we like.

When I first started working, it was at a dog boarding kennel. I had to hard boil eggs for the dogs one night...

I called my mom and asked "how long do I boil them?". Her answer "when the light comes on they're finished". Had to call a friend's mom for the timing.

My mom always said that electric egg boiler was the best gift she ever received. I have it now.

With new ones, you have to be careful because some don't shut off - or they turn back on after X minutes - so if you're not paying attention, they will overcook the eggs. The best have an automatic shut off and a light that stays on once the cooking is finished until you unplug the unit.

I had also looked at the Instant Pot which does rice among other things too. While there have been reports of electrical issues, I'm guessing it's been resolved by now...

Small one, 3 qt on up in size.. does eggs and other stuff too, just a thought..

Thanks for the info...

Amazon, here we come.. heheh, fun..

The Instant Pot works great for soft and hard boiled eggs. Since using the Instant Pot the eggs are so easy to peel, now.

We have that exact same egg cooker...(Egg Central). It works great. It actually is one of those "kitchen gadgets" that does what it says it does and that we use weekly.

Now, we have a cabinet full of other gadgets that we never use. You are welcome to them..FREE. But wait, I will double the offer if you call in the next 10 minutes.

Heheh, funny....
from "She, who must be obeyed"....

I just started getting into the hard boiled egg and was looking around for solutions, especially the peeling part. I learned that if you use older eggs, not Fresh-fresh whatever that means, they will peel better.

There's also the little plastic individual egg containers, which looked pretty interesting as you can ADD spices/stuff to them.
The biggest problem I found was that they were limited to just Large Eggs, not Extra Large, which didn't make sense, and some reported sticking so not quite sure about them... anyway, you just crack the egg into the little plastic container and then boil it like normal.

Your Egg solution looks interesting, just the power use for me, I would have run the Gen.
Thanks, I'll take look at that one.
