Weber Q 2000 Propane issue

I recently bought a Weber Q 2000 and attempted to attach a Coleman 16.4 oz. propane cylinder to try it out. The cylinder wouldn't screw onto the connector. I tried 4 different Coleman cylinders that I have for lanterns. None of them would screw on. I called Weber and they offered no help, saying the Coleman small cylinders should fit fine. Well, they don't. Just wondering if anyone has found any small cylinders that fit or does everyone just go with the adapter hose and larger propane tank. Thanks in advance for your responses.

    I am not 100% sure, but I will say I am 99% sure, the threads and size of all portable BBQ's and the small propane bottles are all the same.

    If it does not thread on, it could be an issue with the thread on the BBQ as you have tried three different propane bottles.

    now I am going with the 100%, as I have just looked at the manual for this grill and the small bottles should (I say should) work.

    I had the same problem with my Q220, after a few bottles and some choice words, I got one to go on, but the awkward angle and the fine threads it is a chore to put on. It is more those problems than bad bottles or the Q, just a pain to do.

    I just opted to not use them, seems like I just get started and they run out or they have to be changed in the middle of a long cooking session.

    So I got one of THESE
    to go along with a One Gallon Tank everything fits nicely in the storage and I have plenty of propane to do what I want.

    I did actually get one bottle to screw on but it was very difficult and I could tell it wasn't threading the way it should. Once I got it on as far as it would go, I had no propane output so I'm thinking it didn't pierce the tank. It was a real pain to get it back off too! My 2 hands while my wife held the regulator part to avoid twisting that off. I may have to do the same as IAMICHABOD but I hate to have to spend another $80. the grill was expensive enough!

    You have likely already cross threaded your regulator and will need to replace that as a minimum.

    Super Dave, I just checked the regulator and it isn't cross threaded but it is slightly flat in one area when looking at it with a bright flashlight. That could likely be the problem why the small cylinders won't thread on and likely wouldn't allow a hose to go on either. I'm going to exchange the grill for a different one and see if that is indeed the issue.

    We have the same weber and the bottles work fine....except for me, LOL

    I can't for the life of me hold that bottle at the right angle to put one on the weber or the outdoor stove. I guess when I am alone I will lose a bit of weight, LOL.

    Call Weber customer service. They were fantastic to us when we had a problem with our Weber.

    Happytraveler, I did call Weber customer service before I made this post. They were no help, only saying "it should work" and "try some other brands of propane cylinders". I thought they would offer to send a new regulator or give some worthwhile advice. I bought the grill through Amazon and they are sending me a new one as I'm within the 30 day return time frame. Hopefully I won't have the same issue or a different one!
