Does anyone really think a cup of coffee costs 5 bucks to make? :B

I'm getting ready to change carriers for the internet and phone and after reading all the posts here about Verizon rates, changing rates, throttling back, contract problems, etc. I don't think I would ever consider them. And they do not have the best coverage as they have seemed to convince everyone.

While I can't vouch for Sprint's nationwide coverage, I have spent a great deal of time in out of the way places on my last 3 trips around the country, and Verizon (through Millenicom) has provided far better coverage than AT&T. I use data on both networks, and while there have been a few locations where only AT&T was available, it has been rare where I had no Verizon available. Verizon is usually faster as well...

Change away. But Verizon does have the best coverage nationally, regardless of what anyone says. Data costs money and as people want more, costs rise. That's why all the plans today have unlimited talk and unlimited text but data usage is capped. Of course Verizon is going to raise rates on those providers who piggyback off their network, making money is why they have invested billions upon billions of dollars in their network.

Well as long as my usb holds up I still have 'unlimited data' with my mobile broadband with Sprint. Just don't see any reason to jump ship to one that raises rates at will and capps your data usage to gain a little bit better speed with something newer which all the rest are throttled anyway during peak times.

Has worked fine all over the past 7 years of full timing and I traveled extensively. IMHO I think too many people are too focused on using their phones for internet.

Yeah - I know most Millenicom users would rather keep their $69.99 bill and have their 20GB of data throttled back after 5GB. (Where is that sarcasm font again?)

I read it and agree. McDonald's only raised their price from twenty five cents because the cost of hamburger went up too. Nothing wrong with making a profit. In fact, I think it is great. Just don't try to tell me that, "I don't want more money, it is the other guy making me do it".

It is simply the McDonald's business model. They are still selling $0.25 burgers, aren't they? They built their reputation as a bargain basement burger joint now charge whatever they think they can get away with. Nothing wrong with that, the buyer makes it happen. Millenicom created an image as cut rate resellers, perhaps even at a loss, and have now jacked up their price since they have a few customers. There is no free lunch.

Blame Verizon, not Millenicom, Verizon sells access to Millinicom. Verizon raised rates to Millinicom.

Why blame anyone? As bandwidth demands increase, the providers have to upgrade or add equipment to accommodate those demands. None of that is free.

Typically as demand increases, cost goes down not up. The US has the slowest and most expensive internet service of the industrial nations.

The price increase has nothing to do with cost increase, it is the provider taking higher profits due to the lack of true competition in the marketplace.

you're forgetting the supply side of the equation.
