CW's $59 Satellite Installation

My buddy has a 2004 Southwind Class A with the original crank-up satellite and old SD Directv receiver. He has switched his home system from Directv to Dish at great savings and is changing the MH's system over to Dish also. He has purchased from CW a Playmaker satellite dish and a Wally. He's scheduled to go in for the $59 installation. What can he expect? Will they drill a hole in the roof and fish thru new COAX cable or will they try to use the existing which is very deteriorated. Will they take off the old crank-up? I thought they may just screw down the new dome antenna to the roof and attach the existing cable and plug in the Wally. He's only paying $59, how much can they do for that? Anyone have any experience with this?

    never heard of a $59 buck fee at CW any labor rate starts over $100. per hour ,and I,d get everything in writing that he wants done, $59,bucks is going to get you four screws and a hole ,,and the screws won,t be stainless.

    CW has a current program that states ANY installation is $59 for club members.

    CW will run new cables and 12V wiring if necessary. They have run similar sales in the past and they do the exact same work they would have done on a full price installation. It is unlikely that this would include removing the crank-up antenna so if he would like to have this done, and the LARGE hole on the roof repaired, and the hole in the ceiling repaired you can plan on paying standard labor rates for that.

    Thanks, I assume they will charge for the new coax. After posting, I chatted with him and the crank up sat removal will be extra. He's going to leavethe existing dish as is or if cheap enough have them remove the dish and LNBF. He's more concerned about the deteriorated coax. He still has the original analog TV, so I gave him my old RF modulator. Hope this all works for him.

    There is a lot of changes in the wind for SAT TV...

    It seems the SAT TV is wanting to go with downstreaming over the internet now verses actually connecting with SAT in Earth orbit...

    Might want to read up on some of the things happening before dumping a bunch of monies into it... I know DIRECTV and AT&T have teamed up already for internet SAT TV programs...

    We use to watch SAT TV all the time when camping using our home SAT TV account but now only watch TV using our OTA BATWING antenna...

    After Dish $300 gift card, he's only going to be out $59. Can't go wrong there. Only use our satellite at the beach. Seems everywhere else we go camping there is no signal because of trees or mountains, ie. Yosemite, Sequoia, Morro Bay. We seldom miss it and it's a good break.

    The antenna comes with new coax cabling so there will be no additional charge for this. If there is going to be additional wiring such as wiring in a 2nd receiver then there would be an additional charge.

    2Oldman, as mentioned before, he is replacing his old outdated Directv SD receiver and Winegard SD crank up sat antenna with Playmaker sat antenna and Dish Wally receiver. Keeping his old built in analogy Tv so he will need an RF modulator tomconvert signal from Wally to analog TV. Roof coax is deteriorate. He has purchased the Playmate sat antenna and received a free Dish Wally receiver from CW and is getting it installed under their $59 special.
