Loss of power to TV/backup camera monitor

We purchased a 1990 Safari "Kenya" Edition motorhome a year ago. We were cleaning in it and plugged the vacuum into the electrical plug that is used for the TV/Monitor/ DVD for TV that is located above the windshield, center to the cab. It kicked out the power and that is currently my problem. I have flipped the breaker on and off for this TV.(Breaker panel in box in rear bedroom.) I have also checked and replaced the 12 V fuse for the TV.(In a fuse box also in back bedroom). I have also checked the 12V fuse in the driver's front side engine compartment. There is power coming out of the breaker panel. All the other plugs work in the motorhome except this one. I am missing something. Is there an inline fuse going to the TV? If anyone has any suggestions or has had a previous experience, your help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
  • Every device needs power to it, and power from it back to the negative. You may have power there, but the return is somehow disconnected.

You have to measure with your meter from the center of the 12 V plug to a known good negative, and not just to the side of the 12 V plug. Run a long wire from the negative terminal to the plug and measure with your meter.

If that does not help, run the same long wire from the positive terminal to the center pin of the 12 volt plug.

One or the other should make it work, but you have to figure out which one.
  • check the breakers on the inverter,on mine there are 2 and one covers the tv plug.
  • your safari has an electrical Bay /compartment

ours is outside on the drivers side near the rear, between the wheels and the generator

located in there is the inverter and the "transfer switch"

your TV also used as the rear view monitor, is powered by the inverter
your vacuum cleaner was too large a load, and trip the inverter overloads
there are input and output "push button" overloads aka circuit breakers on the front of the inverter, IF you have the "freedom" model from "heart interface"
    also the on off switch
turn it off, reset the breakers "push in to reset" and then turn the inverter on
try using the outlet above the dining table, or around the bed
those are not on the inverter

the generator must be running or you must be plugged into shore power for the NON-inverter outlets to work
