Need New Windows Based Computer
I need a new Windows based computer because my CAD program only runs on Windows. I have to start somewhere. I haven’t looked anywhere yet. I don’t even know what to look for or ask about.
Here is what I use my computer for:
1) M/S Word and Excel for word processing and spreadsheet.
2) Outlook Express and Firefox for my email and internet browser.
3) In motion navigational unit while driving cross country.
4) Some drafting and card designing projects.
5) Photo downloading and editing.
Here are my requirements:
1) Must have a Windows operating system.
2) Must be light weight, portable, and have a 12 inch or larger bright screen (navigational use).
3) Must have at least 5 gigabyte ram and 1 terabyte internal memory.
4) Must have DVD drive, a couple of USB ports, and would like SD card reader port.
5) Must work with a wireless MiFi system and a future wireless printer and mouse.
Questions:
1) What are my options?
2) What about a laptop computer? That is what I am presently using.
3) Is a netbook or tablet an option; the ones that pull apart into two pieces? I don’t know anything about them.
4) What about the internal storage devices that don’t spin? I think they are similar to a thumb drive.
5) What are the other features or cautions that I should consider?
As you can tell from the above information and questions, I am overwhelmed by my lack of knowledge at this time. I am trying to get a starting point so that I can more intelligently read and then look at computers in stores.
