- paulcardozaExplorerAnother vote for B-H KOA Oceanside. The waterfront sites there are expensive, but some of the most beautiful sites we've ever stayed at.
- Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer IIWe stayed at Narrows II, on the mainland side of the causeway - was a nice quiet place with awesome views! And yes, the Shuttle stopped there, too. It was VERY handy!
- Reader1ExplorerThank you so much. These sound like really great places. We appreciate the help so much. Last year we took your advice when we went to Michigan and had wonderful campgrounds.

I forgot to mention that if you see a better site open up, you can move and then notify the office of your new site.

It was a great location, bus service from the campground, and a very reasonable price for the area. It was the height of the season and when we arrived mid week we were able to get a site for our 40' fifth wheel. The next morning we were lucky to move over to a oceanview spot to enjoy for the week. We would definitely stay again. Enjoy your trip to a stunningly beautiful area.
- RoadpilotExplorerI'll third the Bar Harbor Campground. We've also stayed at the KOA and liked it a lot.
- ryegatevtExplorer IIThe shuttle service mentions visits all the campgrounds and attractions on the Island, as well as serving BH and the villages. best of all it's free, courtesy of LL Bean. The busses are also pollution free!
Click here - southernskyExplorerWe stayed at Smuggler's Den Campground in Southwest Harbor just a short ride to Bar Harbor. Nice place with a shuttle service running through campground.
- CrabbypattyExplorerWe stayed at Bar Harbor KOA Oceanside CG. Got a fhu oceanfront site. It was wonderful. They have a guy who cooks fresh lobster dinners right in the CG. The Island has a bus service called Mountain Explorer. All you need to do is walk up to the cg office and wait, they drive around and can drop you off anywhere on the Island for free. On the Road just before you hit the causeway to the Island is Trents Lobster Pound. I have never had a sweeter 2.5 pound lobster anywhere since.
Enjoy some for us! Happy Trails!! - rwbradleyExplorer

We always stay at Bar Harbor Campground on Rt.3. No reservations and they don't take credit cards, they DO take personal checks. You check in at the office, pick your site and pay at the office. Some sites are full hookup (W,E,S) and a lot of sites are water and electric. They also have WiFi that works but no cable TV.
Getting a site in September is usually not a problem. Getting a full hookup in July and August can be a problem.
x2 on Bar Harbor Campground. We did get full hookup in July but we did a 1 night reservation at Acadia as a backup plan in case we could not get in to Bar Harbor CG. BTW go all the way to the back of the campground and try to get a spot near the pool, you can see for miles.
