Cleaning our carpet??

We clean ours a couple times a year as needed. We use our home carpet shampooer with just very hot water. No soap. Works great and doesn't leave any soapy residue. Run the fans and will dry in a few hours.

I don't even vacuum the carpets anymore. All I do is wet/dry vac using plain super hot water without soap/shampoo. Afterwards, I leave the resistance heaters on in winter with the roof vents open and exhaust fans running. Dries in several hours. In the deserts SW, I just leave the doors and windows open for several hours. Ooooohhh if you could see the filth that comes out of the carpet each time! If I ever find who tracks all that mess in the RV, well, I'm not sure what I'm gonna do to them.

Use a good steam cleaner. Run the furnace, hook up a few fans, open the vent a little and just let it dry! I don't see a problem unless you are in really cold temps ie. down in the teens or lower! I would do mine when home as we own a machine, but if you are worried about it...head south, rent a machine, do the job, and then go out for some fun and dinner!

heck I use my big shampooer in our TT. just use what ever water it takes to get the carpet clean and put it on dry and run the machine over the carpet many times as it takes to get the excess water out of the carpet. I do ours spring and fall and in between if necessary. we just turn on the fans to help dry

If you are heading South as in DRY CLIMATE like PalmSprings, CA or AZ I highly recommend getting it done there. The dry air and warmer temps will aid in drying the carpet. Also ask for referrals as there are some good deals with a quality job available.

In other words, if you use water on your carpet, the linoleum under the carpet will never let water reach the wood under it.

Check it out, if you can pull up a small spot of your carpet. So you can use all the water (wet shampoo) you want.

agreed. common construction on trailers is to install vinyl flooring front to back on the floor, then finish building the trailer and installing cabinets, carpet etc.

I wait for a warm day, rent a carpet cleaner, clean it, rinse once with clear water, then open windows, and turn on the heat for a while if needed to let the carpet dry.

I clean ours 4 times a year. Get a floor dryer/blower. Dries in 20 min

In a previous trailer, we had a mishap where the fridge door came open while on the road, and a gallon of milk and one of OJ ended up soaked into the carpet. Tried cleaning it, but the smell never went away. The solution was to pull the carpet up, and throw it away. The vinyl flooring beneath was just fine, so we never replaced the carpet.
