- ymhazardExplorerHate those things. Never used the day version, either all open or all closed! Had so many break (strings) we decided to install honeycomb blinds to 1) replace the day/night versions and 2) to get more insulation, especially on the large windows. Helps cut down the sun in Summer and Night cold in Winter. Just our 2 cents worth!
- WiscampsinExplorerRestringing is actually pretty easy, but does require patience. Couple u-tube links:

If you go here and scroll down to RV Day/Night shades you'll see links to stringing diagrams and another video.

Ok, now one other option. Toss the bothersome day night shades and put in venetian blinds. I really hated not being able to "stick my finger" in the slats and look out. Or be able to adjust them to allow a little light in and still see out. They can be cut to any length at the store and are really cheap.
My wife turned me loose a couple of months ago and in two days our 40 footer had all new shades.
When running the fantastic vents they allow air in and can direct it up or down. Those darn day night things are all or nothing.
Just my two cents but give it some thought. - TexasHExplorerEverything you need and he even has instructions in the "knowledge center" that you can download.
Dirty Blind Man - F1bNormExplorerI found the holes drilled in the metal rails had huge burrs, so I cleaned them up before restringing. I also glued the plastic bushings in place.
They also talk about a threader for the string. I used some thin crazy glue on about 3" of the string and it makes it stiff.
In case you have this problem.
On my MH, before I restrung it, the right side window shade used to creep down blocking the window I needed to see cross traffic. I propped it up with a sprung curtain rod (actually one of those rods you use to keep stuff from falling out of your fridge).
NormF - 2gypsies1Explorer IIILook under the bottom and see if there is a mfg. name. Ours does it free but you pay the postage. Instead, we restring our own.
- old_guyExploreryou can also go to you tube for a video on how to re string the shades. very clear instructions shows 2 string and 4 string instructions

and check where they screw into the wall. A lot of times the screw has worked it's way loose a little and that affects how the shade goes up and down. I've had to tighten mine a few times and then the shades were good to go again. - BeakerExplorerMake sure you check everything to see if anything is wearing the string.
