Instead of the approx 1 ton RV roof air unit, we can have 40 pound, 60 pound ACs (depending on how much ice melted in a day)...

FWIW the "one ton" rating refers to average BTU output of melting a ton of ice a day..which comes to about 12,000 BTU per hour.

I thought swampys evaporated water to cool, not using ice.
made a window unit years back. tried it on my dad's car. cracked the window. hid the unit very well after that.
in one of the various mail order catalogs I get one had a set of freezies designed to mount on the front of a standard fan for cooling. probably woudl work just as well to leave freezer door open.

This idea was quite popular for the cars in the 50's before automobile air conditioners came out...

Fill the ice chest full of ice and turn the 12VDC fan on... I saw a fan mounted on a ice chest in a store not too long ago...
