Dometic ceiling fan inoperable
Morning all I have a dometic ceiling fan which comes on when the vent is open and has 0-3 speeds, I checked the fuse which is good and it’s still not working

- I’m thinking it was dirt started working again so I’m not touching it
- If you pull the surround trim from the fan, you can likely find the wires that feed it. Look for where the wires are tied and make sure they are connected, most crimp connectors or wire nuts can be probed with a meter to check voltage.

You sir are surely getting a quality service!- The plunger switch can I get to it from underneath
- There are a few parts that are suspect
First is there 12 volts to the fan assembly (Use a test light not a volt meter please) (Bright is good, Dim is not)
The 4 position switch (OFF LOW MED HIGH)
The Thermostat
The Lid Switch
You can bypass the lid switch and the T-Stat to test.
Not sure how the 4-pos is wired. so not sure how to bypass. ronharmless wrote:
If the fan only can come on when the vent cover is open, then there is a switch in the vent cover. Use a volt meter and check the vent cover switch. You can also jump/bypass the switch to see if it is malfunctioning. You can jump the 0 - 3 switch also to see if it is malfunctioning.
The switch is just a plunger and you can try tugging on the plunger to see if the fan comes on. When the cover closes it pushes the plunger down which disables the power to the fan. The plunger switch tends to get corroded or stuck with gunk, especially when camped near the seashore. If it is the plunger, a little WD-40 will clean it up and solve the problems.2oldman wrote:
