I just purchased a 2011 28bhs and the dealer included a (brand new) eaz lift elite wdh. They installed the hitch and done the initial set up. After loading the TT and the TV I took measurements and thought I needed to do some adjusting as I had a rise of 1.5" in the front. I have read all about properly setting up a wdh and I think I've got it figured out. Now to my question. All the instructions show using a rivet and washers to adjust the ball angle. My wdh does not have washers instead it has threaded bolt. So my question is am I supposed to have washers and the dealership left them off or is this new design?Eaz lift website was no help as it shows the rivet and washers. Any help would be appreciated. i"m not sure what the newest thing is with the Eaz left system but if what you have allows you to tilt the hitchhead forward and backward then it's working OK. No REASON it can't be a threaded bolt but all the ones I've used were washers. The only down side to using the Eaz lift is that you'll need a couple of friction bars to control sway and they're not the MOST efficient means of doing it. There IS one other item to check into. Beside preperly being adjusted it FIRST must be the correct SIZE (spring bar strength). they SHOULD be sized for 15% of your trailers GVWR (as close as possible to that strength without being less than that number).Good luck / Skip

The hitch that the dealer sold me with my brand new TT and didn't install or help me with was the EAZlift elite which I'm guessing you have as it's the cheaper of the two they sell that I've seen and mine did come with the washers. they need to be there to keep the hitch from slipping. I hear all the time that when someone buys a new trailer they seem to get the hitch for free and installed. Funny, I had to buy mine and install it myself. Lesson learned!

From the look of the pics the screw is what adjusts the head tilt. My buddy has the same hitch from 2011 and it has the rivet/washer setup. Adjust the screw to achieve the desired tilt. No washers needed.

I used the Eaz Lift hitch setup for 45 years or so. All the ones I had were adjusted with washers. I never had a problem towing once they were adjusted properly in well over 100,000 miles. I never used two sway bars and I towed a 34 ft TT for two years with no sway

Same hitch i have.No washers needed,just screw the one on top to desired tilt.There should be a bolt on the bottom to.After u get the tilt u want snug the bottom bolt in so the head cant move back and forth.You will see what i mean,it kind of locks the head from being able to move.

Thanks SJones that's how I thought it would adjust but was wanted to make sure since all the print and online info shows the rivet with washer and not the adjustable bolt that came on my WDH.

Amazing that these dealers sell and set up lots of these hitches. But from my experience and others, based on reading these boards, they rarely get them set up properly.
I think the dealers set them all up with the same settings and then throw them on your vehicle.
After people own them a while and wonder why they are having trouble with the feel, they finally realize that the hitch is not set up properly.
Do not rely on the dealer set up.
Follow the instructions that are pinned to the top of this forum. If you find out yours was set up properly, you were fortunate to have had a good dealer or you were just plain lucky.

I know for a fact that the dealer we bought our last TT from sets them up the same. They couldn't get the spring bars hooked up on our TT and one guy says to the other "we always use 5 washers I don't get it". My guess is they just want too get the set up adequate enough to get you home.
