Hunkered down in the Florida Panhandle

Here in Atlanta it's gonna be about 55 degrees tomorrow. If you hang around until Thursday it's gonna be 70. :C Gotta love livin' in Georgia.

I'm from the Great Lakes area and although there are times I do get homesick.....I do NOT think "I" would be torn between missing the beauty of winter up North or Canoeing in the South this time of year! :W :B

Yep, I guess Lake Superior is 95% frozen, you can even drive out to Madeline Island.

Here are some real pictures of Lake Superior ice caves that I just received. Not as spectacular as the others, but these are real. No need to get in a big hurry to give up the comforts of the south, to head back north.

Saw a program on Public TV last night about the Ice Caves on Lake Michigan.

Now THAT was spectacular and REAL. The weather this year has created incredible ice formations and because of how cold it got you can get to the underground caves walking on the lake to see even more.

It WAS truly unbelievable how surreal it looked.

Not nearly as impressive Barney, but the ice jams forming along the banks of the Allegheny River, at East Brady PA… An ice jam piled up as high as 20 feet before releasing… Here the ice is still left on the river banks…

I do feel sorry for the people in the south. But watching the news today everything shut down where it looks like a ghost town. No cars on the roads etc. with just a couple of inches of snow and ice going on makes me just laugh.

I'll sound like my parents here, but they never closed the schools in Wisconsin or Illinois where I lived. Blizzards nor sleet or ice storm kept the kids out of school. AND as you got older, you still had to go to work in them also, nobody ever closed their business. 2 feet of snow and blizzard conditions you got up early and still shoveled out the car from under a snowdrift and headed on in to work.

Guess it's all relevant but I still can't keep my self from laughing at the weather reporters standing in a whole 1 inch of snow screaming how bad it is. :B

Those are fake pictures. About two years ago I was sent them with the statement they were from the great lakes. If you zoom in you'll see the pixels change where the people were cut and past into them. Other then that, they really are spectacular.

We had 8 inchs of snow this morning.:E Mid 40's and sunshine now, and it's going away fast. :C
