Among the dozens of things you are thinking about and trying to do when setting up I forgot to crack open the water spigot on site before attaching the hose...Upon teardown today I disconnected and found the remains of 3-4 earwigs stuck into the filter screen on my pressure reg... Two thoughts came to mind, 1. EWWWWW.. 2. I sure am glad I use a filter.. Just a thought for the day :BHappy Camping.

Found the Gieco gecko in there once. I never told the wife.

Look at the bright side, I believe Earwigs are high in protein. :)

I usually check the pressure to see if I will need to use my regulator. I will have to add letting the water run a little to my check list.

Thanks for the reminder to let the water run before hooking up. I do connect the water hose to itself when storing so nothing can crawl in there.

Reminds me of the time way back when I was renting a house out in the country. I was in the bathroom and noticed what appeared to be a tiny frog leg sticking out from the bath tub faucet. Reached down and pulled on it a and big old scorpion fell out!!

When is the last time you flushed your hose with bleach? I do it every 2 weeks.

For many reasons, I allow the water to run a second before using, even at home.
Heavy metals tend to either sink in a lake or go to the end of a pressurized line, mixing metals in pipes causes reactions, older plumbing corrosion, the reasons go on...

I always use my Watts regulator. Doesn't cost any extra!

I have the Watts whole house version and it's pretty bulky and a little hard to handle with my arthritic hands so if I don't need it I don't use it.

However knowing that campground pressures can vary a lot, if I think there is any chance of the pressure going too high I use it.

I do the same and when unhooking, I drain the hose, coil it and connect the ends together to prevent anything from entering.

I have found more than one interesting critter in the rv itself after leaving a campground. Ants, lizards, the usual; no snakes yet though. Nothing in the hose yet.:B
