I ran across this ad-2003 Pleasure Way Excel TD, 35K miles, $23,000, private seller, located in Princeton, IN. According to NADA this is low retail pricing.Ad on RVtrader for RV in Princeton, Indiana.I wanted to know the exact length of the twin beds and ran across this ad while searching for the info:Exact pic of RV allegedly in Clackamas, Oregon.The photos are identical, right down to the street sign in the background. I suppose it's possible that one of them is legit, and the scammer has copied the photos for his/her personal use.I don't get it. How could anyone expect to work a scam like this? I ran across this once before, and the person started giving me some BS about completing the sale through Ebay, blah blah blah....How could anyone be dumb enough for a scammer to make money on something like this???? Those ads on RVtrader are NOT free, for sure.

Is it possible that the owner was selling the van in Oregon and recently relocated to Indiana? He might have used the same photos for both ads?

Yep.Ebay completed listingLooks like it really was in Clackamas, someone else ripped off the photos and tried to use them in their scam. The photos are identical to the one in Indiana, right down to the street signs.

This is actually common. They just scrape the pic and place an identical ad somewhere else. When I was looking for a new (used) truck I found one I was interested in around Ohio. They could not come up with a good explanation why there were palm trees in the pictures.

Doesn't need to be a complicated scam. Just say "I'm getting a lot of interest, however if you are serious, wire me a $200.00 deposit and I will hold it for you until you can get here to look at it. Get a few people to send deposits the scammer is making some easy money. Heck, they could go through helping you make arrangements to fly in and promise to pick you up at the airport or whatever. Probably would be laughing their hineys off at the bar as they recount the mullet they had on the line. No skin off their teeth. This is just one of the many reasons dealing with unknowns on the internet is risky.

Haha I got exactly the same worded email when selling my 2 ton engine cherry picker hoist,,I was living in Nova Scotia at the time and someone from Colorado wanted to buy it..
I told him cash only,call me when you're in town,,never heard from him again..

I traded toads. I advertised my 04 Suzuki's Blue Ox Base plate for sale on Craigs list. Got a quick reply. The guy sends me a very nice email, stating in very formal English that not only did he want the baseplate he was giving me my asking price plus $20. Just give him my name address etc and he would send a cashiers check. After the check clears he would have his "mover" pick up the base plate.
I might have fallen for it except for his offereing $20 extra and his having his mover pick up the base plate. I didn't go for it.

I don't agree that this was a 'scam'.

But, due diligence, as opposed to malignant paranoia, is always in order.

The "Nairobi princes" just keep playing the game of numbers because, unbelievably, it WORKS. There is that percentage of people who will believe anything if persuaded well, and a tiny percentage is all that's required to make a handsome living at the keyboard.

We have to be careful with scams, there are a lot of people that fall for them, I just ignore and delete them myself..
We did get the Sheriff's office and postal inspectors involved with one
when the Wife had a saddle for sale.
