Our rig has a convenient spot to support the high end with a strategically placed bungee cord. There's no law that says the support has to be the same length as the hose. Longer, is allowed. Engineer it yourself, or pay for the convenience of having it done for you. I bet you can figure something out.

I use them as needed due to elevation of dump pipe vs. sewer outlet on the TT.

We have never used a dump station but at the site we use the supports as it keeps the hose off the ground, helps drain hose and since we leave the grey tank open, we let the hose dip a little to work as an elbow. Our grey tank fills in a day so it is easiest to leave open rather than shower in backed up water in the tub...

When using a dump station, I pull right up to the sewer connection. I can see my drain from my side view mirror and get a close as possible. Being that close I don't need it. Plus, at a dump station, I want to get in and out and let the next person use it. Setting up the support would just waste time.

At a camp site, we are usually not that close to the sewer connection. Plus, I think it looks nicer with a hose supported and off the ground. If there is a leak, I'll find it much quicker. It also allows the tanks to drain without my intervention (other than opening the valves).

Closing the valve fixed it (Sewer gas backing up the hose)

With no support and a dip of at least 3 inches along the line the hose would have formed a water trap and prevented that from happening.

In fact on my #2 Gray tank.. the 3/4 inch hose does just that.

To the Original Poster:

At the dump side I dump and drain, rinse and leave, All in about the time it takes to type this message (Ok, bit longer I type fast).

At the campsite I ... am not going to move for a couple of years, So I do not want the waste water sitting in the hose all that time and working on the plastic tryign to make holes.

I am not sure,, but this could be the very site where I once left the valve open (it was in 2011 after all)

But since you wanted to know the diference..

How long you are on the site, Minutes v/s relative long time.

Never been at a campground that has goats wandering around, but I do have a place I go to on a regular basis that has turkeys and chickens.

What do you do when they put the hookup above the output of your camper? No, this is not a joke, Same place w/ the chickens and turkeys above. Unfortunately I get stuck in that spot occasionally. You should see the poor guys with the travel trailers with the tanks a foot above the ground trying to dump.

I made my supports out of 1/2" pvc pipe. All are little "H" sections....then a piece or two of pvc gutter for support.

I use the sewer solution system and have never used anything to support the hose. And I do stay regularly in AZ.
