Camping and Lodging at Mt. St. Helens

My son has a pop up camper. My other son's camper is a hotel room. We are trying to plan a family trip to Mt St. Helens but can not find campgrounds that offer both camping and cabins (or the like) to satisfy everyone. Can any one make suggestions.

Thank you in advance for your help.
  • Thank you guys so much for your help. Really helped us decide where to go. Thanks
  • We loved Seaquest but I don't know about the cabins. I do know that it's virtually across the street from one of the two visitors center. Seaquest is located at the bottom of the mountain road that leads to the upper visitor center. It looks like something out of Jurassic Park. The ferns are about 5 ft tall and the trees are enormous. The whole place looks like a T-rex will come bursting out of the brush any minute.
  • Silver Cove is a nice Park with really nice cabins, they are also Passport America so you can stay for 1/2 price. We have stayed the numbers of time. Good fishing too.
  • We stayed at the Mount St Helens KOA last 4th of July and they did not have camping cabins, they recently converted to a KOA and have at least 1/3 of the park as full timers. Its also on a steep hill so every row is a full rv higher then the last.

Silver Cove RV Resort is further up 504 and has RV spots and cabins available. I have not stayed there but they are a Good Sam site.

There is Silver Lake Resort but I have heard nothing but horror stories from people that have stayed there so we never have tried it.

If I can think of any others I will add them. I know there is one more around silver lake but cannot remember the name.

Hope that's a start for you.
  • Check out the WA State Parks web page. Look on the "Soutwest Region" map and there are a couple of parks 'close' to St. Helens. Ike Kinswa and Seaquest look like they have either cabin or yurt facilities..

I've been to Ike and it's not that far from the Visitor Center (maybe an hour drive) and is a nice park. I've not been to Seaquest.

But, these parks all use a reservation system and allow up to 9 months advance reservations, so if you are looking for a weekend during the summer, you are probably out of luck... During the week, you can probably still get a reservation in..

    Good luck!!
