A/C work on 15 amp circuit?

YES

That really is probably not enough amps! Unless of course when you turn it on the first time and it doesn't blow the breaker, make sure to have it on its very coldest setting so the compressor never goes off. Then it would probably work. That is what I do when power is scarce and it works for me. It takes something like 2 to 4 times the power to start that compressor that to keep it running. JMHO
Also I think they say below 110 volts you may be damaging you AC.
I ain't no electrician so we can wait for some professional advice here shortly.

I do it here all the time here with our 13,500 BTU Air Conditioner on a separate 20AMP circuit from my garage.

My POPUP Trailer is a good 50-feet away from the garage in the back yard and I use a 50-foot 10-3 HD Extension cord and a RV30A-15A 'LONG Dogbone' type adapter from WALMART...

The 10-3 contractor type HD Extension cords are expensive but I was able to find a couple for sale at a yard sale. You might be able to talk a local RV DEALERSHIP out of a couple of used long extension cords for a good price... When I bought my trailer they passed-on one to me for the asking... These were M/F RV30A cables.

We always watch what else is on in the trailer and don't have any problems getting any connections hot outside or tripping any breakers in the garage...

I wouldn't - risky - with possibility of damage to the compressor ...and for sure you will not be able run anything else at the same time.

If you try it, hopefully the circuit will pop before any damage.

20a yes.

I wouldn't. Our a/c's aren't designed for 15 amps, they use more than that during startup.

Yes, it is. I frequently run my A/C off of a 15A circuit. I just plug in to the nearest exterior outlet at my house (side when parked, out front when preparing for a trip). I do however select the fan-only mode first and allow the fan to come up to speed before going to 'cool' and getting the compressor started. This reduces the inrush and voltage drop during those first couple seconds.

The scare about all of this is people using those cheap 16ga extension cords to reach somewhere, and are usually twice as long as they need to be. Running the A/C off of your supplied 'shore' cable is acceptable, but if you need a longer reach, a 12ga or 10ga (preferred) is required to reduce/eliminate the voltage drop that will be seen when using a lighter duty cable.

Remember, typical 15A circuit in your home is 14ga wire.

I doubt you'll get it started. the AC motor likely will pull more than 15-amps when it starts up. it's safe enough to try. plug it into a 15-amp outlet at home and give 'er a go.
