Adding additional fresh water tank: no pressure to faucets

Hello,

This is my first post and I'm pretty green to plumbing and diy in general.

I am trying to plumb in an additional fw tank. I have it mounted underneath, along side my original tank with a pex fitting t'd into the original tank's pex line.

The problem is now that the pump only seems to be pumping water into the tanks, and not the other way, up into the unit and to the sinks. There is no pressure in the sink when turning on the spigot.

I'm sure I'm missing something. can anyone lead me in the right direction?

To the OP, I assume that there is some sort of panel or protection that will obscure or protect those lines? I know that's not your question, and can't tell from the pic. Just curious.

After carefully looking at the picture, I think the supply line from the new tank is connected to the output line of the pump. This connection will indeed transfer water from the original tank to the new tank and will not supply any water to the rv.
As with other posts, I don't believe the plumbing is road worthy.
Best of luck with your project!

Welcome DClause! I hate to pile on, but that little perforated strapping will not do the job once you start bouncing down the road. You need something much stronger, and with padding or wood protecting the tank from the edges of whatever strap you use. You'll get your plumbing sorted out here, I'm sure.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

Did you install a vent line for the second tank?

Hello DClause and welcome to the forum. This shouldn't be too hard to figure out, but we probably need a bit more information about how your system works or used to work.

Before you added the second tank how did you fill the fresh water tank? Was it a gravity fill on the side of the trailer, or by hooking up the the city water connection and flipping a lever?

When you say the system is pumping water into the tank, can you be more specific on the failure?

Is the pump moving the water from the new tank to the original tank?

Does the pump run and fill a tank if all the faucets are turned off?

Do you still have a city water hose connected to the side of the RV?

Do you have a winterizing antifreeze hose and valve by the pump and is it set correctly?

Did you disconnect or move any hoses by the water pump, or only down by the tanks?

In your picture there is a T fitting wrapped by a piece of wire. Where does the connection that goes up out of the picture go?

Where does the hose with the two screw clamps go? Is that a vent line?

Unfasten the line that leads to the pump. Place the loose end in a container of water. Open a faucet. Start the pump. The water in the container should be drawn out by the pump and water should run from faucet. If not, you have a failing pump or the inlet and outlet lines are backwards.

There may no better way to configure the tanks and piping but what you have pictured looks like an accident waiting to happen. It looks like the tank outlet piping is very close to the ground. I would suggest you add a couple of elbows and try to get the lines further up. towards the frame.

Here's your picture

Can't really tell which line is which.

Trace line on suction side of pump back to tank.....that is what you should 'T' together.

At minimum you need 5 lines on new tank
Fill line
Vent line
Overflow line
Drain line (only line with a valve)
Pump suction line

I also think you plumbed the tanks to the output side of the pump.

Are they different hoses? am I supposed to have two hoses going into the second tank? Are there any diagrams that show how it should be configured? I've searched but to no avail.

Sounds like you have the intake and outlet hoses switched. Your pictures did not show up.
