Doug, NOT doubting ya. Just lookin for a more easy option. At 81 it's an easy thing to do. I've been here a long time and i'm well aware of your experience. Also as well as to Chris also. Thanks
There is no easy option. Going thru the roof is a PITA. Pulling the refer is not that big a deal. Doug- jodeb720ExplorerGator,
Doug's 100% on spot.
A few years ago - my TT stopped cooling on Propane -but worked well on 120.
I put a posting on this site and someone told me to check the baffle (as well as my propane gas pressure).
It was easier at the time (I was camping) to pull the vent (four screws on the top) and cut into the mesh to get to the baffle.
When I removed it, mine was rusted as Doug suggested it might be.
I ran the fridge on AC for the remainder of the trip (painful running the generator that much) and when I got home, I ordered a new baffle, removed the old one, cleaned out the boiler tube (used a bottle brush and some romex wiring taped together) and put the new baffle in and never looked back.
I didn't/don't have a manometer to check the pressure, so the easier solution was to replace the baffle (once I confirmed it was rusted out).

- DrewEExplorer IIA boroscope/inspection camera might suffice for inspecting the baffle, too. I've never tried it, but on paper seems like it ought to work and be a lot less labor than pulling out the fridge. Amazon has some cell phone connected ones (of who knows what quality) for not a whole lot of coin.
Absolutely do follow Doug's suggestions regarding checking the gas pressure etc. - FlyfasteddieExplorer

Thanks. No other way to observe the baffle ? Maybe from above thru roof vent ?
If you can get at the top of the chimney through the roof vent you can get it out that way, but it's likely that the condenser will block your access to the chimney. evergladesgator wrote:

I am giving you 40 years experiance. There is no other way. Doug- evergladesgatorExplorerThanks. No other way to observe the baffle ? Maybe from above thru roof vent ?
- Great Flame means nothing. You need to verify LP pressure at 11.5 inches. As the other poster mentioned, if the spiral baffle has rusted or deteriorated after 20 years, it will NOT dispurse the flame/heat for the boiler tube correctly. The only way to determine the baffle is to pull the refer and pull the spiral out of the chimney. Doug
- DrewEExplorer IIMaybe the baffle in the flue has rusted out? At least I think there's a spiral baffle thingy hanging down there to improve heat transfer.
