My Honda EU2000i was surging, so I ordered new gasket set, took the carburetor apart, soaked it in carburetor cleaner overnight, blew it out with compressed air, put it all back together. Now it starts right up and runs decent (not surging) but it is dripping fuel out where the breather intake meets up with the carb (choke area). So I took it back apart and re-checked it all thinking I had put the float on wrong or something, but it all appears to be right, but something is not right because it is leaking fuel. Thinking of cutting my losses and just buy a new carburetor.
Check to make sure you haven't bent the float bowl. If it's not perfectly centered when you reinstall the center bolt, it'll bend up in the center and cause the outer edge not to contact the gasket in the carb body. If this is the problem , just remove the bowl and tap the center flat again from the inside. As a Honda powersports tech, I see this ALL the time from customers trying their own carb work.
