How does something so simple gets so messed up?

Grumble Snarf,

California BANNED the sale of Pennyroyal Oil, one of the best anti-biting insect repellents known. I have had TABANOS skid to a stop in an oil slick of 100% DEET and chomp my knee.

But no, IDIOTS had to SWALLOW Pennyroyal Oil to induce abortions, and then the legislature HAD to spend millions banning it.

Whenever I read something that is performed in an utterly stupid vein, usually having to do with "Don't Give A ----" attitude, and customers are paying high dollars for service, it sets me off.

People who would eat grease are full of you-know-what anyway so maybe the lubricant would help RECtify the problem if you catch my drift.

I would not insult someone on this forum the way that your answer suggested my prior answer did. The indictment was and is against a work force that has degenerated in the last thirty years.

(didn't take it as insult). I don't take anything here as an insult on any forum to many varied positions on everything. Something as simple as getting a RV washed turned into fights sometimes. I was thinking out loud to myself how it came to be that grease will do wonders on digestive system. Somebody had to find out. Next thing will be a commercial on TV to join a class action suit if you've eaten grease.

Before I broke the zerk off I replaced the 3oz little grease tube. Wanted to make sure I got same type of grease and looked up what the heck "NLGI" #2- LB means on grease tube. Turns out LB means "Lube Chassis" and by MSDS I learned "if taken internally, may cause bowel discomfort". WOW thanks, now I know don't eat grease. Prior to that warning I must of been like "much of general population" and would eat grease.

Our E-Series no longer have King Pins. 1991 was last year of those, sadly. It was a better-driving, longer-lasting chassis! Our guys have Ball Joints. Our 2002 OEM BJ's had plugs and I installed zerks. The ones on the 2012 axle I just installed are truly Sealed. Not even a hole for plug or zerk.

Did the one that came out look Threaded or Pressed? I think the thread size is "1/8-inch-by-27-thread-Pipe" which sounds odd to me, but as I recall IF you can catch a couple turns with a 1/4-inch-by-28-thread "NF" tap you can get a threaded zerk to catch.
Or, hopefully, the zerk lost some of its threads and a new one will hold.

Going to be looking for oversized zerk fitting today. If I can't find any is it alright to just a hole where zerk fitting used to be. I tired keeping zerk in place with teflon tape, it just fell out again???

Saw press in type today. I don't like but maybe that is progress?

Another point about zerk fittings: Many are now just pressed in with no threads. If it pops out in the grease gun just clean everything up and drive it back in. Next time you lube, get a needle valve type fitting for your gun and grease it right through the ball in the middle of the fitting.

Went to a trailer suspension shop a couple days ago to inquire about some wet bolts for my TT (Dexter axle dealer) and all I got was a blank stare from the clerk. Had to explain what a "wet bolt" was and he still had no clue.
