Issues charging Smart Car electric from RV

I would love to see if the original poster found a solution. Helloooo OP. What did you find.

Our smart car ED (electric) EVSE is always plugged into the Kill a Watt meter. Lets me monitor things and figure out how much any particular drive cost in a day. We drove around for over 2 hours on sunday looking at real estate and just enjoying the day. Went through 8 KW of power to fill it up or around 88 cents. :)

Yeah, I have one and it is a **** handy tool to have. Mine gives the power factor, also, which can be very useful when a user gets close to the limit or is using a generator at times.

Yah its a constant 12 amps or so on high but he can select an 8 amp rate as well. That might be another suggestion. Slower charge but really it'll still be charged when he gets up in the morning.

More than likely an open ground would be my guess. Sometimes length of run could be detected as an open ground, so I would suggest trying the pedestal.

I use a schneider 30a to charge my RAV4 at home. 16a Leviton 160 and Clipper Creek LCS 25 at work (20a charging).
No issues with any of them with LEAF, PIP, Volt, RAV4. (coworkers, not all mine)

I like the Clipper Creek the best for the longer, lighter and more flexible cord. But then it is 2015 model vs the others are vintage 2011.

It is good bang for the buck. How is it working out for you. We kinda decided to go with this one as it will be a faster charge for the 3.3 KW charger on the smart car and also be a good match for the 6.6 KW charger on our future leaf.

Did the outlet tester show the ground and polarity were correct?

If you visit 50a parks I recommend a Clipper Creek LCS20P with NEMA 14-50 plug.
