No Battery Charge

New PD9260. puts charger out 12.8. Same charge with Motor or genny running, Genny will not start unless pluged into 110.Can some one HELP me. Thanks
  • mchero, with PD9270 unpluged it reads same 12.8. Fischer I have not messed withe the BCC. Will hit that in the morning. Thanks fopr all HELP>
  • Your charger , coach battery, and chassis battery all go to your BCC box under the hood.
    The converter says it should put out 13.6 and has reverse protection. You may have it hooked up backwards. One output goes to the chassis battery and one output goes to your gen.
    If you have reset the curcuit breakers go to the chassis battery and follow the ground wire it bolts to the chassis , mine came loose and caused strange problems. If you look up battery control center you will find troubleshooting and diagrams

    Open up your BCC (Battery Control Center) box and reset the two DC circuit breakers inside. They may look like little terminal blocks, but will have a small plunger in the base to reset them. They look like this;
  • Does not sound right. Does the battery voltage stay the same if the PD9260 is unplugged? Sounds like an issue with the P.D.
  • Jerry 120v is going into charger. Robert PD92060 is installed correct. 12.8 is being read by volt metter and reads 12.8 (also by Tri Metric). All 4 btrys check out good.
  • Is the battery in good condition? Neither the engine alternator nor the PD9260 will work on a battery that is too far gone. The engine will start the generator even if the battery is toast. My guess is either the battery is shot or there is a connection issue somewhere between the converter and the battery. This assumes the converter is receiving juice.

    It appears you purchased\installed a PD9260 Correct?
    What does the statement "puts charger out 12.8" mean?
    Are you saying you only see 12.8 volts on the battery thats connected to the PD9260? If so then your PD9260 is not functioning. You should at least see 13.9 volts DC when that battery is connected.

    Never mind it's for Parallax......works for all converters
  • The charger should be putting out 13.5-14 volts when charging the batteries. It sounds like you might be measuring battery voltage and the charger is not working or connected correctly. Disconnect one of your battery terminals and measure the voltage on your battery terminals. If you have 13+ volts on the terminals when the battery is not in the equation, then you know your charger is working. Be careful doing this so you don't short out one of the battery terminals when doing the test.
