pd4045ka converter section blown

Does anyone know what usually goes on the converter section of these? or how to fix it?

I'm aware I can order a new one, but seems like a waste having to chuck the old one in the trash.

I've already tested it to progressive dynamics troubleshooting and determined it's over volting.

How old is it and how far are you from Marshall Michigan. IF the age in years is still a single digit they may be willing to fix it.

I walked in with a 12.5 year old a few years back and walked out with a Factory Refurb. they did not even want the old one. .NOTE that 10 year cut off may be model specific.

The 4600 series might be a good replacement choice (Ask them) it's just the electronics part. you re-use same distribution (Fuse/Breaker) parts.

Unfortunately, when I emailed them they said they do not repair them, and to throw it away. Seems like a fragile part, my camper is a 2018 so the converter isn't old at all.

Yeah, I tested it exactly as PD says you need to. As I recall, I was seeing 24 volts or thereabouts.

    OK

Total Failure cause that Unit has Over & Under Voltage Protections

Converters are actually very easy to repair any competent repair shop should be able to get if fixed up for less than $30. Typically the repair parts are < $5.00. Drill the rivets out and take a look inside

Thanks, i'll have to look around and see if there is one local. It seems like a fairly easy thing to blow from what i'm reading. To be honest, I think it actually got blown when the camper was in the shop:( but that's hard to prove, so i'm on the hook.

    S/B 13.6VDC +/-
IF you are reading 14.6VDC ----check that the 'Output Mode Switch' is set to 'LA' and NOT 'L1'
If in 'LA' OR you don't have the Output Switch and getting high DC readings then circuit board is BAD
They are throw away items.....replace the converter section

**If you want after replacing you can spend time/effort going thru the circuit board components and find what has failed. Probably a 95 cent item available at Radio Shack. BUT you will NOT find any wiring schematics of that circuit board so trail/error
  • It's a replace item once they go. Just do it and save yourself the headache and expense of finding a repair shop.
