- landyacht318ExplorerMy dell laptop requires a third wire for the Pin inside the barrell, or the battery will not charge, and it runs slowly.
When my DC/DC adapter stopped charging due to the third wire again breaking, I was able to splice on a powercord from another Dell power supply my neighbor had laying around.
When that Failed in the same manner, I tried to buy just another barrell connector/ wire for a Dell, but it was cheaper to buy an New AC/DC adapter and splice its cord onto my DC to DC adapter.
When the third wire on that connector failed, I took my knife to the barrell connector and resoldered the three wires onto it. I repotted the connector with Amazing Goop.
I also decided to run the wires to the barrell connector at a 90 degree angle to reduce strain on the connector.
Now I need to build that faraday cage for the DC to C adapter, so it stops knocking out channel 8( actual). An AC/DC adapter also knocks out this channel, and uses more wattage at the same time, and the inverter also takesout other TV channels - AlmotExplorer III

Some of these bricks are wild. Like the 14 volt 3.3 ampere or the 5 volt 7.2 ampere. So buying a complete brick assembly for a 2006 CC TV is not possible.
The TV is for the family business in Michoacan.
I might as well grit my teeth and start looking in China.
I thought you were looking for connectors only. The whole brick with weird voltage AND particular connector will be a pain.
Look in China - before they switch to manufacturing missile connectors and motherboards or whatever they supply North Koreans with. The Bank of China (big, not the biggest out there) operating in the US territory is laundering money for Koreans, there was a UN report on this. Can be suspended from operations here, i.e. shut down. Legally, in compliance with all the laws and regulations. They won't be able to operate without access to $US. Nope, all quiet, business as usual. - mike-sExplorer

Let's see - I paid for a house with my first startup, put 2 kids through university with my second. Both electronics. Neither based on Internet-kook stuff. Are you friends with Archie Pu? You'd get along well, you speak the same language.
I knew you were the voice of experience. Did it hurt? Still waiting for your list of projects you constructed and are still working. Or is it a matter of using less letters, like dropping m-i-k-e and replacing it with a "B"?

You should really make your hats out of tinfoil if you want to plug them into a standard connector. - AlmotExplorer IIIOf many problems that Mex has been dealing with (and quite recently), Alzheimer is not one, AFAIK.
Mex - you've answered your own question. Ebay and Amazon. Buy a "new" old power brick complete the tip. Amazon have free drop-off lockers in 7/11 and other places close to the border - unless you're adventurous enough to order it to Mexico.
With plenty of time and in densely populated lower-income districts in great US of A, I would check some big 2nd hand store, there are old power bricks for $2-3, doesn't matter what voltage, castrate the tip off and solder. But, Segundas in Mexico are not the same thing as I observed.
Trying to standardize them all seems too much trouble to me. - RvpapaExplorerMex,
Any standard commecial USB connector supplies ( or requires ) 5VDC.
Barrel style jacks are anybody's guess.
Art. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerI found two Radio Shacks within 16-miles of the border. Neither of them were worth snot. They want to sell entire phones, gizmos, and assorted other garbage. Neither one had parts bins for components. They offered a multi-voltage 1-amp power unit with 7-tips for seventeen dollars.
I opened the correct drawer at Willies Electronics and out of 24 pockets only three had plugs. I didn't make it 22 miles inland to Fry's Electronics.
I would sort of like to pick this stuff up at my PO Box - meaning (1) finding good tips not garbage (2) online.
My hopes were set too high. I would love to see a set of Go-No Go-Plug identifiers. Select correct OD hole, then descend down that row until the tip doesn't fit. Like takes 10 seconds to ID a tip. A bit too sophisticated for today's hookah society I guess.
Live on <75kWh per month, plant trees and succulents, repair rather than chew and spit and then I figure a person has the right to call me out on environmental issues. Lead by example is the best way. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorer

If you took your meds on time, in the proper dosage, you'd remember the title to this thread, which you started: "Power Brick And Plug Standarization."
My power bricks have USB? Oooooo this is rich.
This is a power brick, Please notice the tip.
Confuse the tip with this...
It's understandable. But start tossing innuendos and aspersions, and suddenly the smart --- resembles this...
The stuff I build works. What "Stuff" do you build? Nothing? Pity.
