But you left out the part it was a 6.5TD and couldn't get out of its own way and pulled hills at 30MPH... And there are plenty of Dmax hotshots with 400k mi on a SINGLE motor. Bottom line is you can't compare a 25yr old diesel truck to a new one. A current 2500HD Dmax would blow that old 3500 truck away in EVERY aspect.

Unless you are just riding around town.With a trailer that heavy You need a 3500 drw for stability and comfort.just MHO

Not really. You can get the exact same 18" wheels/tires on 2500HD as you can the 3500HD. Although you can NOT get the 20" wheel/tire option (less capacity) on the 3500HD. Real difference is the extra rear spring on the 3500HD. Everything else is the same between 2500/3500 and has been that way for many years now.

This "Cook it any way you like, they'll eat it" mentality is what got Detroit in trouble in the first place. This sets up Toyota and Nissan to build extra heavy duty models as tow vehicles (which they already have in Japan and Australia). I recently rode in a new F-450 and it was a harsh ride and truly awful V10 fuel economy. 12 mpg unloaded is nothing to write home about. Neither is the 50,000 dollar price tag.

The 2500 HD and the 3500 HD have the same rear axle and frame. The real difference is the capacity of the tires.

Are those "dry" or GVWR figures??? How does the truck handle the current trailer? To get an idea of how it would handle the heavier trailer throw another 3-400lb in the bed.

Yes your correct only difference between SRW 2500/3500 is extra rear spring and higher numbers on the door jam sticker.

Then finally he drives off in his 2500HD or single 3500 towing a 14,000 lb 5er, with his arm again hanging out the window, still with his baseball cap firmly glued to his head. What can you do? Nothing! Just be older than dirt and knowing the world is going down the tubes even faster than you thought. :)
