I ran stove, fridge, water heater to make sure all was ready for our trip in two weeks, but when I remembered to try A/C I could hear the heavy sound of it, meter in outlet showed I dropped to around 110V in the red, so did not want to run it too long drawing on an extension cord on a house outlet, but still it did not seem like the air was that cool, should I have waited longer?I did notice if I switched to fan mode only of course power draw lessened but when I switched back to the cool mode I did not start the A/C which I think must be a protection thing, so am wondering if I should let it run longer to see if it does cool.

Start it up again and let it run - 110 is OK and won't harm your AC - I use 109 as my cut off.

DO NOT run A/C on a 15 amp circuit or with a less than 30AMP cord on a 30amp circuit. Doing so will overhead the wiring, and really put a load on the A/C because it cannot draw enough power.Test it at the campground.

110V is fine. But extended run time may cause the extension cord to overheat. ACs don't produce cold air. Rather the outlet air is 20 degrees cooler than the intake air. So 100F in and 80F out, eventually cooling the rig.

It should start within 4 minutes (3 usually but I'm adding one to play safe) Many do indded contain a "Time out timer" that prevents rapid cycling of the compressor.. usually 2-3 minutes.. However, many also do not have that feature.

Thanks fellows, I believe this circuit is actually on a 20 amp breaker, which I realise who ever did it was wrong, as it only looks like 14 gauge wiring, so that is not to code, was going to try hook up a 30 amp circuit from garage, but it is too far away.I do have a 3500 or so generator, but I guess due to my lack of maintenance it flooded and leaked fuel all over, so have to fix it, then I could try it right from it, and hopefully get full power.

Okay, got time today to try A/C, found out cord would just make it to the outlet on the end of the carport, ran fine and cooled down quite well, daughter complained it was too cold, but at least I know it is working, voltage while running was around 112-114, so made a difference getting rid of extension cord.

Bob, you had better go back to High School and take a physics class. Energy is required to do anything. It takes energy to remove heat from air, it takes energy to condense water vapor into water. The more energy an air conditioner uses to condense water vapor the less energy it has to remove heat from the air. It requires much more energy to cool (or heat) humid air than dry air.
By the way the use of the word "precipitate" could be OK. Per Wikipedia; In meteorology, precipitation is any product of the condensation of atmospheric water vapour that falls under gravity. The condensate certainly falls under gravity.

Bob- it takes a lot more energy to turn water vapor to liquid that it does to turn air to colder air. Way more than 50% of the cooling capacity will be used to dry the air than to cool it.
Surely you know latent and sensible heat?

Energy to precipitate water??? Condensate is the by product of passing warm air over a cold coil. What in the world are you talking about. Relative humidity has no effect on the efficiency of a rooftop air conditioner. The compressor amp draw will increase with an increase of outside temperature, but the compressor runs at the same speed independent of relative humidity and the exchange of heat in the evaporator remains the same also.

When it's really humid, the temp may not start to drop for 15 minutes. It takes energy to precipitate water and that energy sucks a lot of the ability of the AC to cool. Measured a foot distant from the outlet my thermocouple did not drop a single degree while the r/h dropped from 80% to 50% then the unit dropped the temp.
