Strange AC cycling?

Just get a new Freeze Thermister and install it, you can have a defective one. Doug

The thermistor is a freeze protection device installed in
the compressor relay circuit to prevent evaporator coil
freeze-ups. This device is a semi-conductor which has
electrical resistance that varies with temperature. The
thermistor cutout temperature is 26 degrees F
(±3 degrees) and reset temperature is 40 degrees F
(±3 degrees).

So I decided to move the wire that sticks in the coils thinking this may change the point the AC turns on and off. I moved it about an inch up. It has had a big effect. The unit does not try to turn on so hard after the pint its shuts down. I dont think this is the solution to my issue but it has made the symptoms a bit less.

It happens with every air conditioner. It's called Locked Rotor Amps and happens on every startup.

I am wondering if moving the lead that sticks in the coils up an inch will help.

Motor start capacitors are not Pass/Smoke devices. They can degrade. Perhaps it is time to stop guessing and start troubleshooting - starting with the capacitor.

Thanks for the insight Doug. The two AC that were replaced were done just about a year ago. A few months before I bought the coach. Air flow seems good, but I got a drip last night out of the original AC that is still on the coach so I need to open up that whole and check it out. Is there any diagrams for the modification that you know about or how I can get them?

OK, per RVP.
1. The original AC units do NOT match the exhaust(cold) air into the roof of your unit. There MUST be a modification to route the cold air direct into the ceiling duct. IF this was not done then you have a restriction and cooling problems. Which would cause the freeze sensor to trip prematurely. How long ago were the units installed?
2. RVP states they have seen problems with NON RVP wall tstat controls Specifically Atwood Tstats. The person I talked too at RVP was not sure if there was a fix for non RVP tstat operation problems. Doug

I guess I should mention I am having an issue with the zone 2 AC as well. This is an original AC unit. This one will get to about 5 degrees of the set temp and them shut down very much like the zone 1 ac that this thread is about, but this AC will not fail at its restart.
