Tire update and possible solution

Greetings-

I reported some time ago that Michelin had announced a 1.2 million tire recall, and that my tires (all 7) had indeed been recalled.

Due to a shortage of Michelin LTX 227/75 R16 tires, I am being offered B.F. Goodrich Commercial T/A All Season tires.

Does this sound like a good option to you?

Any and all opinions gratefully accepted.

TIA

  • We bought B F Goodrich ST230's for our Class A. We have 47,000 miles on them and we are very happy with them. B F Goodrich is owned by Michelin and the tires are made in America! They ride much better than the Toyos that came on the RV. The B F Goodrich tires were recommended by Pro Tire in Denton TX. We will buy them again when the time comes to get new ones.
  • You might want to at least look into the Michelin Rib ('XPS', I think). All-steel, heavy, more cost. 2nd hand from various forums, less traction on slippery surfaces, but a heck of a durable tire, and reportedly cures some of the handling ills of the Ford E-series.

You'd probably be charged the price difference for the upgrade.

  • They can keep the TA's for my money, six blowouts in two years! Two with the trailer and four on the truck. Michelin/ Goodrich wouldn't do anything about the resulting body damage either.
  • I just bought the Goodyear Wrangler Adventure AT...so far it is quite the tire. Experience is non towing so far, but in NH winter weather it has been a dramatic improvement over the OEM tires. Also very quiet on dry pavement.
  • Perfectly good option. The BFG Commercial TA had a recall a couple of years ago, but all is well with them now.
