- LJAZExplorerI have the Honda eu3000. It's very quiet and it will run my AC all night long in Arizona summer temps.
- magic43ExplorerI have two Honda 2000's and a Champion 3500, but my absolute favorite is my new Champion 3100.
- JiminDenverExplorer IIAs little as we actually use our Champ, I sure wouldn't mind a dual fuel model.
- hbillsmithExplorerI have the original Champion Inverter 75331i. Its 2800 watt continuous and 3100 watt peak. It runs either one of my 15K A/C and if I turn the A/C off for a few minutes, my wife can use her hair dryer. Its 58db same as Honda. Its a pull start and weighs 85#. Had it 2 years and still like it.
They now have 3 additional models. A battery enabled remote start version, a slightly bigger engine 3500 watt version and the newest is a Dual-Fuel version that runs both Propane and Gasoline.
The newest Dual Fuel Gas and Propane is exclusive for now at Costco for $999.99 free ship at Costco. Couldnt get the link tool to work here so just go to www.costco.com and search for Champion Dual Fuel Inverter.
Champion Dual fuel - Boon_DockerExplorer IIII have two Champion 2000 and can get 29 amps continuous when needed by connecting in parallel. They are quiet as Honda at 1/2 the price, start first pull and weigh 48 lbs.
- PipemanExplorerIn my family of 3 kids and the wife and I, are 3-3000 watt Hondas, 2-2000 watt Hondas and a 4000 watt Onan. I guess you could say we like Honda.
- pianotunaNomad IIIAnother solution is to have a hybrid inverter/charger.
The 30 amp service is only intended to run 24 amps continuous. The Yamaha Sieb 3000 and the Honda 3000 are a pretty good match for that--they do about 22 amps.
My Yamaha is mated to a Magnum 3000 watt hybrid inverter/charger. The inverter does "load support" so any surges are taken care of by it. That means I can run the generator in eco mode.
Mostly I use my solar system. I'd love to quintuple my solar farm wattage. If I did so I would be able to run the roof air while the sun is shining. - SoundGuyExplorerSure, 2K inverter gensets are a great option for many but since any model in this category regardless of brand is only capable of generating less than half the 30 amp requirement stated by the OP they're not really relevant to this discussion. If the OP truly wants a genset capable of a full 30 amps continuous a 4500 watt model like the Yamaha EF4500ise would be about the minimum size he should be considering. Obviously, under full load a 4500 watt model would be running much quicker (and as a result louder) than would a 7000 watt model under the same load ... if "quiet competence" is the game it would be hard to beat a Honda EU7000iS.
- SkiSmuggsExplorerI have the Smarter Tools AP2000iq. It is very quiet and only weighs 45 lbs. It has a Yamaha engine for longevity and I got it from Walmart for $600.
- buck66Explorergot a boliy 3600 quiet and only weighs 70 lbs dont hurt i have a great dealership here in town to work with
