18" tire question - ANOTHER UPDATE

specta

Was in this forum where someone was taking about 18' tires with a 4000lb load rating??

Trying to find them.

UPDATE BELOW

The pick up some nice size ricks between the lugs when you leave the pavement and when you're back on the road they can bang pretty loud when they hit inside the fenderwell.

Other than that so far so good. 🙂

One more reason I stuck with the same size tire.

My new tire chains that I'll never use fit them. LOL

I always extract the rocks from our Duratrac tires on exiting gravel roads (we live on a gravel road; I use needle-nosed pliers), because if those things hit the under-wheel wells, they will take the paint right off as effectively as a pellet gun. Or, go through someone's windshield...:E

Thanks for picking them out. 🙂

I've had way more aggressive tires than there but forgot about the rocks.

It wont be long and I wont have any paint left in my wheel wells. Except the front ones, they're plastic.

140 miles today on a 2-lane canyon HWY with a 65 mph posted speed limit.

Hit 85+ twice passing slowpokes.

They do handle better than my previous tires in the corners.

Once again, I believe that I made the right choice.

But then, I always do, 😉

Yabut Specta - can a "work truck" even do the work of hauling a camper?

The new shoes look good from here.

Thank you. I'm quite happy with them.

Anything was an improvement over the old steel ones.

Well they're not smooth and quiet like my Michelins but I knew that when I ordered them.

My F350 was so quiet, that I could listen to Opera singing at 60 mph.
Now I drive Sprinter and the tall van is noisily.
It is fraction of the noise comparing to vehicles we had 10 years ago, but comparing to latest dually, it does get annoying.

I actually can't hear them but I can feel them. I'm sure as soon as they get a little worn they'll get noisier.

In the olden days I always ran most aggressive deep lug bias ply tires on my 4-wd truck. People would roll up their windows when I passed them on the freeway. LOL

I looked at a lot of tires, a lot of tires and I'm happy with my choice. So far. :B

Looks great! Really dresses up the truck!

Must been too long since I’ve had dedicated pavement pounder tires on a truck, as I thought the last set of Toyo AT3s I had were pretty darn smooth and quiet.
Quieter than the subsequent tires on my trucks in the last year or so being Nitto Terra Graps, Toyo RTs and Duratracs.
I think you’ll like them.
