Hello all, 2nd post on this site, I am new to all of this. My big first question... we have a deposit down on the camper mentioned above,it appears to be super clean. selling price is 7499. I am only familiar with my PUP so this is our next step up we know we want a Hybrid plain and simple. Is this a good camper and a good deal ? We have a few days or so to make a final decision. Big RV show is Next week here in Ohio. My threshold is 10,000 out the door. Should I jump on this ?
  • The warranty offered is Protective Asset (third party) Platinum xtra rider service program. No deductible. The warranty is solid and covers everything but the roof and body. All appliances, heating cooling brakes and so on. I think here is where he went the extra mile as I started reaching out on my own for quotes and was quoted easily twice that much. I will try to negotiate the price, as it turns out no bank will finance the full amount due to its age...I have more work to do.
    Thanks all...
  • I'd try to negotiate it down. You're in Ohio and it isn't exactly prime camping season! There are probably not a lot of buyers right now. If it checks out, offer them about 30% less and see what happens.

As far as the warranty, I don't think I'd pay $900 for it. The two most expensive appliances likely covered by it would be the fridge and a/c. Each of those can be replaced for $900. There's probably a deductible and my experience is that if you are having something done uunder a service plan like that you'll wind up at a low priority when it's time to do the work. The customer with cash in hand will take precedence.
  • Nada.com says that trailers worth about $4,00.00 to $5,000.00.
  • Thanks again, I can see this forum will be very helpful now and in the future. I do have some time this week and after the RV show, there I can get even more information. I will price out warranty options out there.
  • look over that extended warranty with a microscope.
nearly all don't cover the real expensive stuff, like roof leaks and delamination.

but, i would only consider buying a 3rd party warranty on a used one.
  • If it checks out and appears to have been taken care of, sounds like a good deal. My fiver of that same year was well built and has given me no problems. As for the warranty, that's a personal decision. If you're comfortable with diy, you might save the money. But peace of mind is worth something. If you consider it, read the fine print as some of those warranties exclude alot. Good luck!
  • I will do that, I have a New Ford F150 so not a problem. What are your thoughts on a 2 year bumper to hitch warranty for $900. From what we saw so far it is solid on the floor. One owner a single person, who wanted to upgrade to a 5th wheel and now has a wife.... It is from a camper dealer as a trade. They are redcuing all of the vehicles to make room for 2016, plus the Ohio Rv show is next week so the deals are out there.
  • As mentioned above, check the floor for spongy spots or discoloration of the linoleum floor. The exterior walls for signs of d-lamination, especially by the bunk end doors where they hinge out. Check the caulking on the roof, at that age some sort of maintenance should have been done by now. My 2 cents, any sign of water damage I would walk away.

  • A quick search seems to show your price as being on the low side but I'm not sure about that. Check it very well for water damage. What is the tow rating for your tow vehicle?
