LIke all you want, but if you are in the U.S. or Canada, you will never be able to buy one. Ford says the new Ranger would cut into F-150 sales, which is why the Ranger is no longer offered in the States or the Great White North.
That's the new Ranger? Man I'm liking the ! out of that. Dark metallic red and we're ready to go. Factory roof rack rails are handy from time to time as well. :B
That's only one part of the issue... Another is that the entire segment is a relatively small percentage of the total truck market. It's just not cost-effective any more, especially at the volumes (or lack thereof) Ford had with the outgoing product.
The other thing to note is that the Global Ranger isn't your old Ranger with a new skin... It's a beefy chassis with a heavy duty Dana-44 rear axle under it to carry the loads. I've seen some (from about 10 years ago) that were warranty issues, but they all turned out to be supplier issues (It always helps if the supplier fills the diff with gear lube before shipping it to the assembly plant!) - colliehaulerExplorer III

Kind of like when Chrysler bought AMC and kept the Jeep and ditched the eagle line of cars.irishtom29 wrote:
Note too the change in name from Dodge to Ram; that tells you something about the market being aimed at.
I'm pretty sure it had more to do with separating the brand so that if Dodge went belly up, the trucks wouldn't go with it. - ROBERTSUNRUSExplorer

I liked the old Ranger too but never had the use for one. Too small for RV towing and to thirsty for small jobs. - RobertRyanExplorer
