- larry_barnhartExplorertransamz9 I under stood what you said and had a chuckle and I have also said I am smart enough to not go and look or test drive any new truck. You are correct a big difference would be easy to notice. We hope to have 2 more winters in Az Oct to April as we have done since 2001.
chevman - ksssExplorerGM trucks needed a good month because June was not good. The midsize trucks are slowly starting to gain more conquest sales which is important. When they first released the little pickups, it was mostly selling to GM customers that is slowly changing as the options increase and not a lot of issues with the new pickup have surfaced.
What really surprises me is Nissan. It does not appear to me that the Titan is exactly flying off the shelves. Those are some pretty tragic sales numbers considering the investment they made in that new pickup. - transamz9Explorer

I feel all 3 trucks are good but the DW stories would scare me a little. fords always wandered and I have had some and driven others but not lately. GM trucks have driven so great for me it would be tough to change but WAIT I am not buying one so no test driving. I am old but not stupid.

AHH come on! You owe it to yourself to go test drive the latest and greatest.:B I mean you love your current truck so much you won't have a problem walking away anyway.....:W
Are you telling me you are wearing out your trucks that fast? Our 05 feels the same as when new to me. BUT if I needed any truck I could have any brand sold. Just why waste the money in this world it could be important . GMC is still like driving a new vehicle so we are not hurting just cheap. have fun.

Not meaning a fella can't do with his money what he wants to do or not trying get in their business. I can't get rid of our truck I just changed the rear end fluid for the 8th time yesterday. have fun rving everybody.

I wasn't trying to say that your truck is worn out. My post was more of joking, like if we were standing beside each other I would have given you a shoulder nudge while saying it.
I know exactly what you are saying about having a truck in great shape and not having any reason to replace it. I still have my 2005 Ram Cummins and have zero intentions of getting rid of it but in the same breath you surely can't believe in your heart that your 2005 is anywhere near the same truck as a new one of the same truck. - larry_barnhartExplorer

In the real towing size trucks they make their own diesel engines and transmissions instead of sending a cheque away to Cummins or Allison or whoever else. By concentrating on one model (and will be even more so when Superduty starts using the aluminum cabs) they can lower their costs per unit.
So if they really wanted to sell on just "price" I bet they could undercut everyone and still make a bit per truck?
So what really defines the "best" truck, the highest sales numbers, or the one that many folks willingly pay more for than the others?
Something else to think about and stir this up a bit more eh?
At the risk of starting an argument the Duramax is 60% owned by GM and 40% by Isuzu and built in Moraine, Ohio. Duramax sales from 2001 to May 2007 reached 1,000,000. Isuzu has produced over 20,000,000 engines. Credit should be given to Ford who builds theirs in Mexico. Ford transmissions, as well as the Allison are built in the USA. IIRC, Allison has 80% of the U.S. medium and heavy duty market. - larry_barnhartExplorer

1. Ford F-Series as usual
I think any accountant would look at total numbers sold, rather than who has the # 1 model. More sales, more money for the company coffers.
Wrong Les..
This was the thinking that helped lead GM into bankruptcy.
We are losing money on these vehicles we are selling so we will make up for it in volume, was the thinking.
Regardless of who has/makes/sells the "BEST" truck, almost every financial analysts would agree that Ford makes the most profit per truck.
