My 5.7 Tundra has no problem pulling my ~7600lb trailer up just about an grade (4.30 gears), but because I am over my payload limits by at least 500lbs, and nothing else I'm thinking about dumpuing my 2010 5.7 Tundra and going to a 3/4 ton from one of the big 3, I have no brand loyalty and I've had them all in the past and have had good luck with them.I've been looking hard at the new Ram because of the new 6.4 hemi and rear coil springs, looks like I would be looking at around $40k by the time I'm done with taxes and fee's on a new Ram.So I have also been looking for used with low miles and of course the 2014's with 6.4 are hard to find used.has anyone towed with the 5.7 Hemi (2010-2012 Rams) that can comment on the power when towing and mpg's?looks like used Rams are everywhere with the 5.7 for around $27k, but most seem to have 3.73 gears...although with used trucks it's hard to tell since you don't have the window sticker to go off of...I don't know how accurate the online VIN checker is either...any input on the Ram or GM gasser's is appreciated. All three are great choices. Not sure why you would be concerned about the Ford's 6.2 power. It has more HP and torque (385/405) than the 6.0 GM and pretty well the same numbers as Ram's 5.7. With 4:30 gears, the 6.2 is rated to tow over 15K. I pull a 10K+ 5th wheel with 3:73 gears and find it just about the same as my old 2008 V10.Sit back and wait for all the diesel owners to tell you you need a diesel. For the weight of trailer you have, a 3/4 ton gasser will be plenty of truck.

By the way I paid a little over $31k for the Tradesman Crew Cab Standard Bed with the Preferred Package, Chrome Package, Brake Controller, Tow Mirrors and 5 inch UConnect Touch Screen.

Expect discounts of at least $10k off MSRP of any new truck.The Toyota 5.7L with 4.30 axle is similar in power to Ram 5.7L and Ford's 6.2L. The trans gearing of Tundra with 4.30 is almost identical to Ford/GM 6-spd with 3.73, in trucks that weight 500-1000 pounds more than your Tundra. So you might want the shorter ratio in the HD just to have similar acceleration.

IMO you would be fine with the 3.73 Ram, 6 sp trans, 5.7 Hemi. The Hemi is slightly more powerful then the 5.7 Tundra. The 6.4 is currently the hot setup (my dream truck) but might be out of your price range if you're looking for used.

Was that before taxes and fees?

for a new 2014 6.4 tradesman with chrome package, the best I'm seeing is around $34-35k...msrp ~42k, dealer discount to $38k, then $4k in customer rebates, then add taxes and fee's and it's back up to $38k

I've seen some advertised on AutoTrader for 31k, but that is with all kinds of incentives that 98% of people are not eligible for. then they are back to the same $35k

at $31k out the door I would jump at it!

No, that was before TT&L. I don't like to use out the door pricing because everyone has different sales taxes and what not. Ended up right at $34k out the door.

That is still a great price, the best I could find locally was $35,600 plus fee's and taxes. for a 6.4 with 4.10's, OTD was $39,500

I have read that the 6.4 Hemi requires Premium fuel. That would turn me off.
