Michelin Tires

I'm thinking of putting Michelin Tires on our 2002 Dodge dually. But I'm undecided about which model tire is best. What has been your (recent) experience with Michelins? What model? How many miles? What about snow and ice conditions?

Had both Toyos and Michelins on my 2005 Ram. Toyos were better.

I ran the all-steel construction Michelin XPS Ribs on my 2002 Ram 3500 dually as well as on the 5th wheel. As expected, never a problem, and they were still on the truck at 47K miles when I sold it and looked almost new. For snow/ice work, they also make the Michelin XPS Traction.

The current truck (see signature) has Michelin LTX M/S2s - for snow/ice conditions, I'd go with the Michelin LTX A/T2.

Don't know how you came to that conclusion?
I took off Toyo's and put on Michelin's MS/2x and could not be happier!!
Wet traction is far superior with the Michelin's! I have gone two winters in the PNW and have not needed to add any weight to the bed to keep the tires from spinning on wet pavement! With the Toyo's even with 300# in the back, it was a constant battle to not spin the tires on wet pavement.

I have run Michelin's A/T2s on my 2007 Dodge since new......dumped the OEM junk tires at 5 months

60,000 miles on each set --------but I am conservative when it comes to tires cause I tow heavy and was Full Time. (tires still had good thread)

Next set......going to give Cooper Discover a try

It is very easy to come to my conclusion. The Toyos last longer, run quieter on the highway, offered me better traction in snow, wore more evenly, and cost the same approximately as Michelins. What is not to conclude???

I have had Michelin AT/2 on my past 2 Ford's as original equipment. They ride and handle nice .... not great in snow and tread wear is terrible .... about 25,000 miles.

Have had AT/2 on my '05 Ram 3500 and for the second time had to junk two tires with plenty of remaining tread life because of bead cracking with loss of tire pressure. Never Michelin, never again........but that's me. Put two Dunlop Rover something or others on for half the price of the Michelins. Even the tire store guys admit Michelin really seems to have problems with crazing and bead cracks. And no, the tires never saw one application of tire dressing of any kind, ever.

I'd take Toyo or Cooper over Michelin hands down. I'm leaning towards a set of Open Country AT2s when my stock Firestones wear down a bit more, although there are a few other options I'm still thinking about.

I will have nothing but Michelin LTX MS and now MS/2 on our diesel and gas trucks and Michelins on our SUV's etc since 1993. Never had cracking either as tire shine products/coatings etc causes the early cracking so avoid it. Extremely long wearing and great traction on wet or snow and we live in Michigan where snow falls. Have not had even one tire problem or failure in the many sets we've had. They have been an extremely good decision made many years ago and could kick myself for not using Michelins only starting over 55 years ago. Outstanding tire!

These MS2's have nearly 40K on them. Well over 1/2 of those miles were towing with a 4,500# pin weight. 11 RAM dually. Front tires ONLY rotated side to side same rotation.
