- ktmrfsExplorer IIhere is what we switched to for our trailer bedroom mattress.
Air dream mattress
It's as comfortable as our sticks and bricks mattress. It's also what came with our flexsteel sleeper sofa in our house. Way better than a typical sleeper sofa mattress and affordable. - mosseaterExplorer IIWe've had a Flair air hide a bed since 2008 and it's worked great for us.

A cheaper source of foam is buying a used foam mattress at a thrift store and cut to fit with an electric bread knife . The left overs became the bolsters !

I am thinking of having a 42"×70" foam pad with fabric cover made to place on top of it. I am ok with leaving it in bed mode for an entire trip.
Any ideas?
another option is one of the air beds. Our couch/sofa in our trailer came with an air bed, which so far (10 years) has worked great. Comfortable, easy to inflate, easy to store.
