Plastic age and that is why you have to replace those covers every 5-10 years.
If those you have are older than 3 years, chances are they will break during removal.
Get new stuff and if you plan to keep the camper, don't go cheap.

I didn't buy them, they came with the camper. Just wanted to make these work for the next few weeks.

I will eventually replace both units entirely. Just didn't want to have to mess with that aspect while also scrambling to get the floor and plumbing fixed over the next week.

You need to address the compromised caulk around the vent base. Thats a water intrusion deal right there....

Most you need to disconnect the cranking arm off the vent top by opening all the way and unscrew the crank gear housing. There is a slot on the crank arm roller track that allows the arm and roller to come off the lid and track. I think you might have to remove the screen to get to everything.

I think most you then slide sideways to get it to slide off of the hinge pivot when you hold it open without the crank. Be gentle.

Tips? Not sure. From here looks like same vent with partial remnants of old lids attached. Vent one, uncurl end of hinge tube, old lid hinge should slide out. To reinstall crank needs to be removed... 2 screws from inside, slide arm out of lid rail, umm copy of inst. might be easier





vent two also has part of old lid hinge remaining, quite a bend in the base edge. Both look like base hinge barrels bent but lids may slide on.

I would put on the complete vents, it looks like your roof needs re sealing anyway.
