200 miles round trip? Take two vehicles. That's relatively cheap fuel for the second vehicle.

I would question whether this picture is from a 1500 or a 2500 suburban. It doesn't really say.

I think the main issue would be payload, moreso than tow rating. To the OP, have you looked at the PSD Excurions? I'd have one of those any day before a 2500 suburban. I know they've been discontinued (stupid ford motor co), but if you're mechanically inclined and willing to put in the work, you can get your hands on a 6.0 PSD excursion very reasonably. Just MHO.

Self-Edit: I see in your sig line where you have a 2500 suburban, so I'd imagine your picture is from that ;) That's a strange scenario, because my 2007 1500 silverado has a hitch sticker that exceeds those numbers (when WD hitch is used).

My first choice unless you NEED 4wd! Otherwise, I would have gone this route instead of my crew cab pickups. Along with I used the pickups at work daily landscaping. Better choice of funds was a CC 35 series pickup for day in and out for me any how. 6 of us in a van would have een way more comfortable. We survived many miles.....

Not sure if you can get a different hitch for a burb tho, if so, then trade in for a 1500 lb capacity HW hitch, and enjoy the burb.

Have you considered a full size 3500 van? You can even get one of those with the Duramax.

Dick did you tow the Sunnybrook with both? I feel mine is taxed enough in my local camping area. Too many 15% grades coming and going.

I traded in my 3/4 T 8.1 Suburban for a 3/4 T 6.0 Suburban. Either one gives me around 9 mpg towing 7500 lbs. The old Suburban gave me 9 mpg in town. The new Suburban give me 12 mpg in town and 16 mpg on the highway but does not tow anywhere as well as the old one.

I'm pulling around 8600# with that same engine in a 2500HD. It works on hills pretty hard. I wouldn't want to get in the 10K range with it.

I'd weigh the trailer without water and fuel.

My sub is the single digit mpg variety. $135 to $150 a fillup.
The primary kid toter is the 5.3 dod tb.

We effectively replaced our minivan (which was our third) with the Suburban you thought you wanted. It's the wife's DD and our main family vehicle. She loves "her truck". But I sometimes wish I had kept our prior crew cab pickup and minivan and just driven 2 cars on our camping trips. I miss the truck bed.

My Odyssey is my daily and love it

Daughter was up from S CA and the mini van was hers for the week. Grandson
and son in law also loved it.

Daughter grew up with my 2 seater, K5 Blazer, Silverado and the sedans. She
now has my old Mazda B2500 (Ranger half ton) and her husband has a 4Runner.

She knows enough about vehicles to make a great technical decision and she never
thought about mini vans...because they were/are soccer mom vehicles...not now
and that is on her list once one of their vehicles dies
