what price should I negotiate

I'm looking at a 2014 kz spree 280rls at an rv dealer and looking for opinions on what price to negotiate. MSRP was $27,991 and they have it marked down to $16,950. I've never bargained on an rv before so any help would be great....Thanks
  • The MSRP means nothing . So basically the dealer is asking 17K . I would start at 13K and stop at 14 thousand , all in taxes and fees . Its your money . Remember the dealer NEEDS to sell trailers , but you dont NEED to buy one , you WANT one .
  • Remember that you can negotiate other items into the deal, such as weight distributing hitch, tow vehicle brake controller, new batteries, etc.
  • Is it brand new still in the lot, or used? What is a new '15 or '16 msrp?

Also, what area do you live?

We just bought our '16 Jayco 32 BHDS, msrp was just over $34k, and we got it for $23,9xx. before tax & title as a comparison. Included was a Reese Dual Cam system with a Reese Titan 2.5" shank.
  • A good deal new should have been around 30-35% off MSRP. I bought my 2013 Salem TT for 20K out the door and got WDH equipment included and setup. My MSRP was right around 28K. I'd be ecstatic getting 17K out of it now but would also expect it to be priced about where it is on a dealer's lot.

I'd say their price isn't totally ridiculous (as many on dealer's lots are) but they should have some room to come down. You can bet they low balled the guy that traded it in. A lot depends on how much you want it and how much they want to get rid of it. I'd hope you could get it at 1/2 MSRP now that it's 2+ years old. Offer them 14K and walk away. They'll call you.... if they even let you get off the lot :)
