- wmosesExplorerForest River offers a second year for $150 to bring the total duration to 2 years. On a multi $k trailer, this is a no-brainer.
- kep5ninerExplorerKZ offers a 24-month warranty for some of their lines. But my experience thus far has concluded that the reason it is 24 months is because it takes twice as long to accomplish a warranty repair (waiting on parts), so in affect it may as well be a 12-month warranty. This is according to my dealer. Not flaming the brand - just stating facts.
I have yet to escalate any issues up to KZ, so I'm taking the dealership's word for now. Allegedly, Thor's acquisition of KZ has resulted in JIT production, not facilitating dealer requests for warranty parts.
Sounds like a supply-chain issue to me. Regardless, there's definitely room for improvement. - Jack_Diane_FreeExplorerOpen Range Roamer is 2 years.
- WyoTravelerExplorerDoesn't matter unless they honor the warranty. My question would be: If I have a problem a few thousnd miles from where I purchased the RV will they honor the warranty? A few manufactures, like Tiffin, claim they will. Jayco says 2 years but denied my claim unless going back to dealer where purchased. My Monaco has honored warranty while on the road several times. Don't know how they would be now that they changed owners. JMHO. When I make an offer those questions are asked. Make my offer accordingly. If they say yes, ask it be part of the contract.
- myredracerExplorer IIOur experience is different and we're on our 2nd KZ. The factory may be slow to respond on some things, and communication may be lacking, but many of the components are common to other TTs so repair/replacement should not be an issue for a dealer. I can't think of that many components that are KZ-specific except for things like cabinet doors and upholstery.
With any 2 year warranty (or even 1 year), you should be able to take your TT into the dealer at the very end of the warranty and get things fully taken care of. If it takes a while after that, that's their problem. I know for a fact that KZ will take care of some issues when others will just brush you away. Don't know how much things will change under KZ's new ownership though.
It may be your dealer, not KZ. Our dealer is excellent and gets things done PDQ. None of the waiting for an appt. to get your TT looked at, then waiting for factory pre-authorization, then ordering and waiting for parts, then scheduling in the work, all of which can take 1-2 months, like with a previous FR TT we had. Plus, we had a battle with them for a year to get the brakes fixed and then they played hardball at the end and tried to weasel out of fixing them. Our KZ dealer does not argue with you on warranty items and has been very accommodating and pleasant to deal with.
There's a few other brands that have a 2 year warranty. I think Heartland and StarCraft do. I think, and could be wrong, that any manufacturer that has a 2 year warranty has better overall quality. I'll take a 2 year warranty over a 1 year anytime and FWIW, would never get a third-party extended warranty plan.kep5niner wrote:

- BroncosFanExplorerGood point to ponder "Jayco says 2 years but denied my claim unless going back to dealer where purchased."
- MM49ExplorerThe only thing worse than no warranty is warranty. The dealers are totally incompetent. They will not fix the problems. They will then create more problems on the way in and the way out. They are the scum of the earth!

This may be the sad truth. While one would think a 2-year warranty is indicative of the quality the manufacturer will stand behind (I did), coming back multiple times for the same issue leads me to believe it's a dealer issue. I have looked them straight in the eye, after I have walked them through the logical process laying out my displeasure, and the last recourse they can give me (after blaming KZ parts...) is "good help is hard to find."
Another KZ dealership is not an option, as it is 200+ miles away. I bought this camper in June, and have been on the verge of losing multiple weekends of camping this past summer waiting for repairs.
Admittedly, I have re-caged my expectations after thoroughly reviewing the plight of RV owners as a whole through this and other forums. At the end of the day, it's still a good value for what I wanted, and has otherwise served us well. Coming from boating my entire life, this is all still surprisingly "inexpensive." (ie - my 28' cruiser was 4x the cost of my 29' TT!) - Campfire_TimeExplorer

I'm not convinced that this is accurate. I'm on the Jayco owners forum. Everyone who has dealt with dealer issue, to a tee says that when they talk to Jayco, you can take it to any Jayco dealer for warranty. It's the dealer's that often won't service what they didn't sell. The RV industry doesn't have the same policies that the auto industry has when it comes to warranty service.
