I have found the igniters on the propane stoves don't work very well when you are on the road. I put them on my 30,000 btu Camp Chef stove and the element will move because of vibration which moves it from it's ideal ignition location. I thought about doing this mod, but after seeing the problem with my outside stove I decided that a simple barbeque lighter is easier.
Besides, I want to make sure the oven door is open when I ignite the pilot light. Imagine what would happen if your igniter doesn't ignite immediately, and then the oven is fairly full of LP gas and it finally ignites. I think I'll stick with the open door and flame igniter.
you can us the electric ignitor with the existing piezo spark gaps.
our electronic one works instantly, every time.
and DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE OVEN. The oven main propane valve will NOT open until the pilot light is lit and allows the main valve to open. You'd have to hold the pilot light button in a LONG time to get any measureable amount of propane into the oven.
In fact, after using our spark ignitor, I'd say less gas is released into the oven than with a flame ignitor. takes maybe 1-2 seconds for the pilot to light with electric ignitor. First time every time. When I was lighting it with a flame, first, push in the pilot button, then with the flame ligther on, try to hit the pilot area, while holding the pilot button on. - 69_AvionExplorerI have found the igniters on the propane stoves don't work very well when you are on the road. Probably be a good idea if you don't do the Oven igniter mod then.:B

And don't think you can do it with a ignitor with 2 or 3 outputs and put several in parallel. Won't work. on the ones you parallel only ONE will spark, not both/all.
You have to ground the unused circuits and then it will work.
There is some miscommunication here.
Using a igniter with two or three outputs will work for the oven and one or two burners.
But to get the electronic igniter to work on all burners as well as the oven pilot light requires one with as many total outputs as you are wanting to light.
Since most stoves have three burners and one oven pilot light, then a four output igniter is needed.
correct.
There are lots of ignitors out there for BBQ with either two or three outputs. And a few with 4. the one with 4 is what you need.
If you have a two burner stove and oven, then one with 3 outputs will work fine.
if you have outputs you don't use, you can ground them. but don't expect ONE output to give you a spark on TWO ingitors. What will happen is that ONE of the ignitors will spark, the other one won't. Which one sparks?? Usually the one with the shortest open path. - HuntindogExplorer

When were weekend and vacation campers the only thong we used the oven for was o store bread. Now that we full time, we use it all the time. - wrenchbenderExplorerIn the 8 yrs I have had my present TT I have never had a need to use the oven.

How Ironic. We have one and the wife won't use it! She prefers to reach in and use a long handle butane lighter!
Different strokes for everyone.
Asked DW and she turned the mod down. She is comfortable using the lighter.
