All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionstotal weight carrying in my rvMy wife and I are full time rv'ers. We have been living in the rv for the last year and now plan on hitting the road. One of our first trips will be into the high Sierras. My total wieight allowed is 22,000 lbs. I can't find anywhere where it mentions my unloaded weight. How do I know if I have too much weight, before taking off on my up hill climb?Re: shower wallsSo many great reply's. I think the space between the shower wall and motor home wall might be around 1/8" Not a large gap. Could I just use some type of caulking and molding around the top?Re: shower wallsNot so much a failure as unfinished work. The shower walls just need to be secured to the walls and then a sealant or calking applied around the edges. I just don't know what to use or where to begin shopping.shower wallsI have a coachman and just bought it used. I noticed that the shower walls are not flush with the walls. They have a bowed effect around all 3 walls. Will pop rivets, and sealant fix the problem? If not what do I need to do? Where is a place to buy rivets for this type of job?Re: service engine lightI have looked several placed and can't seem to find where the various codes would be. Once I get a scanner and get a code, other than calling Coachman, where can I locate what the code means?Re: service engine lightI can't find the codes anywhere. I have a manual but can't find the code section. I'm hoping it's something easy like the gas cap. Do you know if there is also a check engine light as well as service engine?service engine lightI ghave a 2006 epic coachman. The RV has a little over 20,000. The other day while driving, the service engine light came on. I checked all the fluids, water, canister is 3/4 full, Oil is light brown, newly changed, tranny is nice red color. gas cap was on, I believe tightly. Turned the RV off for 2 days and restarted and light came back on. I can't find anything that explains what might be causing this. Any ideas?Re: Life on the edgeGreat info SoWeGo. There is so much to learn. Right now looking for employment opportunities for next summer. We will probably take small trips to begin with in the spring and spand the winter learning how to pack it. So Here we go :)Re: Life on the edgeIt really helps to know that there is a community out there willing and able to help. At present I own a Jeep, and there is a willingness to stop and help among wheelers. Hopefully this Summer I can find a job as camp host somewhere nearby and get my feet wet. My wife and I traveled the world when we were young and went to many various countries. We love to travel, but this is an entire life change. We've adjusted to a sedimentary lifestyle and know being in our 60's, want to take off again. We're not wealthy, but see this as the only alternative. We love the outdoors and camping don't want to feel like the old barn horse anymore. Burning our bridges and off to a better way of life. Hopefully we can meet sometime while on the road. We're starting on the central coast of Calif.Re: Life on the edgeWe knew this would be a huge undertaking. So much to know so little time to learn it. I have already started several subscriptions, IE workamper news, and a couple others. These tidbits are all greatly appreciated and will be added to my ever expanding notebook. Hopefully this summer my wife and I will get on the road and find a job as a camp host close to home. Just something to get our feet wet for the first time. Our plan is to get to a site and stay there 3 or 4 months and work and see the sites as well. Won't have a huge retirement, that's why camp hosting seems so desirable to us. I will also look into sub teaching. We have a 34 foot Epic Coachman and this will be our new home. My biggest fear... highway driving and getting stuck somewhere and having a hard time getting out.
