Roadside Assistance Platnum +
Last year I had a renewal issue. It was , as a courtesy to me, renewed but upgraded to Platnum + for 2 years. They sent my Platnum + cards with an expiration date of 4-26-17. I was impressed! Now,starting a month or so ago, on a visit to Campers World, I was advised that my membership was expiring on 4-26-16. Then I got several notices in the mail to renew immediately. Yesterday I called the number on the card. I was told that it was expiring on 4-26-16, they paid no attention to my narrative. I asked to speak to a supervisor who concluded the same thing. I was told, no it was not issued for 2 years. The original Platinum + card issued, which I have, shows an expiration date of 4-26-17. This now sounds like a SCAM! Good Sams Roadside Assistance Renewal or lack of it!
I bought an older, 1996, Class C, Cobra Passport 31’ in March, 2014 with 42,000 miles. In April, we added Good Sams Roadside service. This April I did not get a renewal notice so I called. I got Mary Beth at the Denver office. It must have been her first day. After being put on hold twice in 10 minutes for 2 or 3 minutes each time, she told me I never should have been sold the contract since I was on the do not renew list. When questioned, she said in 1997, I had 4 claims, in 1998 I had 3 claims, in 1999 I had 3 claims & in 2000, I had 8 claims, there for no renewal. On this new policy it showed 1 claim for April 2014 - April 2015. She was adamant & indignant about no renewal. I tried to explain that I thought that I had been mixed up with someone else. Her response was if you don’t like it, write a letter. I asked for her supervisor. After 5 minutes or so more I got Jerry. Jerry was much nicer & much more personable. His first reaction was the same as Mary Beth so my obvious irritation rose. Finally he said he would check into my issue & forward it to someone who could help. They would get back to me later that day. That was 5 days ago & nothing yet! I think they have my name & or membership number mixed with someone else. In about 1 year of membership with Good Sams Roadside service, I have used them successfully 3 times for tire issues. All were satisfactory. Then about 10 days ago, my RV would not start at home. I called for a tow & was offered a choice of a tow or a mobile mechanic. I choose a mobile mechanic. I was sent Tracy with North Texas Truck & Trailer Repair. He arrived in a reasonable amount of time in what appeared to be a very efficient service vehicle. So far so good. After of about 30 minutes of checking, he told me I needed the starter. He said he would have to come back the next day because he did not have a jack to lift it. He said he could bring the starter or I could get it. I asked which store would be best to buy the starter. He suggested NAPA. I went to NAPA & bought the new, not rebuilt, starter for $182. The end result was he never came back or even called me. I left several voice mails on Tracy’s phone to no avail. Finally, I called Good Sam’s Roadside Service back. I spoke with the customer service rep & her supervisor. I was told by both that the issue was between me & the service provider & not their concern. I then said to just tow it to the dealer & was told it would be at my expense since they had filled their obligation by sending a mobile mechanic. They called Tracy & he told them it would be a day or 2 because of the weather? In Dallas, Texas? I thought it was EMERGENCY Roadside service. My contention is they choose an incompetent, lazy & rude company to do their roadside service plus when brought to their attention it was not their problem. To the North, up IH-35E, 28 miles, in Lewisville, is Lewisville Lake Park. The nightly rate is $16, full hook up. For Seniors it is $8. It is on Lake Lewisville, shady, spacious, clean, neat & friendly. It has 30 amp & 50 amp, plus a dump station. It is owned by the city of Lewisville. In Lewisville, TX, in the NW Dallas area, exit Hwy 407 off IH 35E, southbound, the city of Lewisville has a full hook up park, on the lake that is quiet & peaceful. The amazing part is for seniors it cost $8 per night. You have to leave after 3 weeks. We bought our 1996 in March, in Willow Park, West of Ft. Worth. They took it to Weatherford to an RV shop/Park/Inspection place on the South Side of the Highway. They pulled it up to the door for the inspection! I live near Northpark Mall & keep the RV at our apartment complex. For repair, I like Danny's RV in Denton.729Views0likes0Comments
