All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: DTV local channels when travelingI call DTV @ 800 531 5000, get a human on the line, tell them this is for an RV, have them change my address, push the red reset button on the DTV receiver and within 5 to 15 minutes, I have the local channels. The DTV person then has me check a few local channels to make sure that all is good. The DTV folks have always been patient & polite, & easy to talk to. I have done 4 or 5 times this year with no problems DeanRe: Why do we need such a big windshield???Exercise: climbing up & down your ladder to clean your windshield, using your arm muscles to wash that window. Help in overcoming your fear of heights. Improving your balance by standing on the top step of your ladder by overextending to clean that last square inch of widow. Teaching you how to tuck & roll or do a plf (parachute landing fall) when you fall, cause you haven't improved your balance (as stated in para 2) Improving the economy and helping you lose weight (a thinner wallet) by the exchange of money with the doctor, ambulance and hospital. Just a few of the good reasons for a big window. No fair guessing how I know these things. DeanRe: Gas CapsPure and simple, you are being ripped off. I have lived in Ca. for 40 years and have had smog tests on everything from a VW to class C v10 engine. Never, repeat, never have I had some smog tester try to push a gas cap on me. BTW, I never do anything special to pass. Just drive the vehicle in and test, some of my vehicles (trucks, cars and class C) had over 100,000 miles, one had 300,000 miles. It is a simple crooked way to extort $ from you. DeanRe: Fed up with good sam roadsideI have Coach Net. A week ago had a flat tire ( right front). Coach Net would not send a tire service out cause I had no spare and Coach Net didn't want the liability (according to the non service provider) if I repaired the tire. Coach Net said nobody would repair a steering tire. Called a local shop, they said BS. They came out, fixed the tire and $100.00 later all was fine. I have had GS and now Coach Net, neither of them are, as far as I'm concerned are worth a bucket of warm spit. DeanRe: DTV blew away my programming, nightmare restoring itI have DTV and change my address every couple of weeks, sometimes every day. I just go online, punch up my account on DTV's home page and change my billing address. Then I get all the local channels and all the other 300 or so channels. Sometimes I have to hit the reset (red) button on my DTV monitor. I get my bill delivered to my email address and pay automatically each month via my credit card. Once in a while, I run into a problem then I simply call DTV's help line and get them to fix it. The reps are always very professional, patient and very willing to help. All in all, not a big problem. DeanRe: GPSIf you have a smart phone, go to the app store and download the free Waze app. You use it for free and it beats all the GPS's that I have. Far as I'm concerned it puts all brands of GPS's to shame Updates within seconds by the user, tells you about wrecks, cops, vehicles on the side of the road etc. Try it, I think you'll like it. DeanRe: 295/80R22.5 Latest Tire PricesI had Goodyear 670's, same size you're talking about and put about 42,000 miles on them with no problems. Changed them due to age, still looked good Purchase 8 Bridgestones, have about 5,000 miles and they're doing just fine. I didn't put Goodyears on again cause the tire dealer didn't carry Goodyears. Far as I'm concerned, they're both fine tires. Paid about $750.00 a tire out the door. As far as I'm concerned protection from the sun, checking air pressure once in a while, rotating the steering tires, reasonable speeds, proper loading, Goodyears and virtually all quality tires will last and perform pretty good. And no, I don't check air pressures every day, nor every week.Re: Cummins ISL Wrist PinCorrection from Dean: mileage was 28,000 (twenty eight thousand miles). DeanRe: Cummins ISL Wrist PinAs stated check the engine serial number. The warranty on the engine was was for five years. My ISL blew (I mean really blew, a hole about 18x12 inches in the block) at 28,00 miles, with no warning and about one month before the warranty expired. Cummins covered the cost. The bill was about $30,000. Personally, I would run from the sale as fast as possible. DeanRe: Country Coach Allure 2006 questionsI would check that the engine, if a Cummins ISL 400, is on the infamous CM550 recall list. The engine serial numbers range from 46543077 to 46603939. If it is I would not purchase. Mine blew up at 28,000 miles, about one month before the 5 year warranty expired. These engines were produced between October 2005 & April 2006. PTO should have been upgraded from the original dry version to the wet version. Aluminum radiators can also be a problem and seem to fail eventually. Dean
