Thank you!Re: 2000 Fleetwood Southwind exterior cabinet latchesHey that's a pretty good idea too. So basically you're just cutting through the plastic panel revealing the catch mechanism? I assume the styrofoam core is already removed on the inside surrounding the latch. Is there a place where you order the parts from? Do you know of a good website?Re: 2000 Fleetwood Southwind exterior cabinet latchesHaha. Wasn't offended. I tried to remove the side piece with the latch by using a thin scraper to gently break the glue bond along the length of the trim piece but I couldn't get it all. I managed to pull the piece off enough so I could see inside and found that the screws were held by nuts that just spin. I will try your method of pounding the piece off using a block tonight. Thanks for the tips. Cheers!Re: 2000 Fleetwood Southwind exterior cabinet latchesWhere were you when I was learning the hard way?? Ok, what's done is done and I will no longer slam the doors :). Going forward though, I removed the handle mechanism and removed the corner frame screws and the bottom piece of frame. The sides won't come off because I can't remove the screws from the latch areas. The screws just spin. I assume that means the holes are stripped or is there a nut or some other piece that's just spinning inside?Re: 2000 Fleetwood Southwind exterior cabinet latchesI tried YouTube but nothing pertaining to my problem. In addition, Does anyone know how to adjust the catches so you don't have to slam the doors so hard just to get them to latch?Re: 2000 Fleetwood Southwind exterior cabinet latchesYes. All the outside storage bay latches are very difficult to close and a few of the lugs have snapped off. I'd like to systematically remove each latch, replace worn or broken parts and reassemble. I'm able to remove the handle part but not the latch parts that are buried inside the door.2000 Fleetwood Southwind exterior cabinet latchesDoes anyone know how to remove the exterior basement cabinet latches? I've removed the handle mechanism but can't get the latch parts out of the door. The screws just keep turning. All of the cabinet door latches have difficulty catching the pieces they're supposed to latch to on the side of the motor home so I would like to remove the hardware to make sure it's in good working order and oiled before reassembling it. Anyone?Re: What did you do to your Class A MH today??? doc brown wrote: I had a bay door painted because I was a dumb $#% and raised the door too high and then proceeded to extend the slide. As I was extending the slide I heard a scratching sound and in my infinite wisdom I thought, well maybe it needs to go in and out a few times. Well the sound did not go away! Later I realized what caused the sound. I'm usually good for one dumb mistake each year. I hope this was the one! I laughed pretty hard at this one...until I remembered trying to remove one of those doors one time by driving it sideways along the length of its hinge..right past the entry door cutting a nice groove through the paint and beyond. Unfortunately for me I couldn't hear the scratching that you mentioned because the scratching sound was conveniently masked by the blows from the 5 pound mallet. talk about being a dumb $#%! cam
